Anyone else had problems at Shutters?

Like was stated earlier - when you stack your photos make sure that you always have a current one on top and the same people in the last picture in the stack.

I don't suggest doing what I saw on one cruise. A lady had all of her pictures from Shutters, took them "outside" where it was less crowded, and took pictures of their pictures with her camera.

As a thought...
I wonder if you brought some larger post it notes and once you stacked your pictures, you "cliped" them together with a couple of post its? You would use one post it on each side and top and bottom to hold the group together. Post its would not damage the photos like a real paper clip woul. This way when the Shutters cast members put them out they could not unstack them by accident.

If this works, you would be able to find your pictures easier until "everyone" started taging them with post its.

We've sailed twice and going again next week, so we obviously have overall very favorable impression of Disney Cruises. However, Shutters was the worst part of the trip.

On our last sailing we bought the package and then found only one or two photos we liked (virtually none were taken of our teens). We were not given the option of buying individually so we ended up with several I've never taken out of the package. I was also disappointed that the 8 x 10s were not part of the package.

I did the daily stacking thing, throwing out the worst ones and hoping each day that better pics would be made. The last night I was trying to sort through the rest and it was a madhouse (as described above). It was so hot I became light-headed so I walked out toward the hallway hoping to lay the photos out and make final decision. A crew member reamed me out - treated me like a shoplifter even when I tried to explain. I finally just handed him the photos and left. Very bad impression - I probably won't even go to Shutters this time - just don't care for their photos.

Cruzmom...I also think they should take more pics of the teens...my complaint too. Why don't the photographers go on the Junkanoo excursion and take photos during that dance? Or go to some of their activities more like they do for the little kids? Teens like their pictures taken too...esp. w/ the new friends. I gave each of my teens a throw away camera for that purpose. They used the whole roll!

One of the things we asked about early in the cruise (first night, in fact) was what photos would be included as 6 X 8 during the cruise. Frankly this helped immensely in putting together a nice set of photos that we purchased, and we ended up discarding many photos.

Here are some of the 6 X 8 photos that can be included in your package choices:

1) embarkation photo; 2) photos with characters in the atrium area; 3) photos with at least 4 separate characters at your character breakfast (and you can have the kids shot separately, as well as family photos); 4) photograph with the Captain on the night of his cocktail reception; 5) photos at your table on two separate nights; 6) at least 8 or 10 photo opportunities on Castaway Cay, with and without characters; 7) pictures at the pools.

Formal posed pictures with the backdrops were always 8 X 10's.

I have a feeling I may know why the photographers don't get too many shots of teenagers. I saw a photographer nicely approach a teen boy on the pool deck to take a picture of him and the boy just stared at him very coldly and wouldn't smile for his picture.

I have a teen son and I know he sometimes has a difficult time smiling for pictures. Maybe the photographers just get a better response from the little ones and find it a bit discouraging trying to get shots of teens. Just a thought.

If we should be blessed enough to go on another cruise, I will remind my DS14 to be kind, courteous and responsive to the photographers. Plus if they're with a group of friends, it wouldn't hurt for someone to request a picture to be taken so that they'll all be able to keep a nice memory of their trip. It would be very difficult for a photographer to say "no" to that kind of request.

As mentioned earlier, someone at Shutters told me that you can tell which pics will be 8x10's because all of them will have a back drop. If it's just a shot anywhere else, it will be 6x8.

I have to agree Shutters is quite chaotic. It's definitely one area that they could improve on. With that said we were fairly lucky. None of our pictures were lost. We stacked them befind our 8x10 formal picture. The stack got moved a few times, but always stayed together. We did throw out the pictures we did'nt want as the week went on.

I couldn't agree more with the comments of how disorganized Shutters is--on the Magic we tried the stacking routine, and many photos vanished--and when I asked about it I was told that older photos had to be moved out for newer ones--which didnt explain why the pictures I had stacked from 18 hours earlier were gone but some other photos from 4 days earlier were still on display. It left a bad taste in my moth and it was one of our last experiences on the ship--Disney should be embarrassed.
Since all the digital suggestions are logical but honestly pie-in-the-sky for now, my advice is to simply make a decision each night whether you want to buy the photo or not, because there is no way at all to guarantee the option will be available the next day. We don't dress up much or have professional photos taken at home, so this was supposed to be part of the cruise.
