May 6 I am going back to school -- in my old age. I was accepted at DeVry in the Keller Grad School. Working on a Masters in HR Management degree which I hope will be interesting and somewhat challenging. It's been many years since I've been to class, so this will be a new challenge.

One shock was the price of textbooks. The main one was listed at $151! Then I had to pay $20 each for items to be e-mailed. :confused3

I think I have a lot of catching up to do.

Yep. I am going back at the ripe old age of 44 :thumbsup2 I started working on an AS in science about 7 years ago...I just got it last December :rotfl2: What a pain...working full time and taking care of two kids, but it was worth it. I will be going back for my BS in Sept. Yeah, book prices are outrageous...fortunately, my company offers tuition rembursment or else I would be screwed. Good luck to you :teeth: Oh, the other thing that kind of bugged me, I was pretty much the oldest person in all my classes, the kids called me ma'am  :lmao:

Five years ago, I went back to school at the age of 37. I will turn 42 in June and will be Dr. TammyAlphabet! Go for it! It will all come back to you. Best wishes for sure!

Congrats, Tammy or should I say Dr. Tammy! That's a major accomplishment and you should be very proud.

I hope I can get back into the swing of school. Part of the class is online and I feel comfortable with that. Just wondering how much of my "free" time the school work will take up.

Pretty sure I will end up being the oldest person in my class. Oh well, I'm used to people saying "sir" although it does make me feel old.

My company also covers tuition, but not books or lab fees, etc. A friend told me about a web site (bestbookbuys.com) where you can compare book prices through a number of online sites. Duh, could have gotten my primary textbook for nearly 1/3 of what I actually paid for it. Oh well, there's always the next class...

For a grad degree, you probably won't be out-of-place age-wise. My mom went back to school after having 4 kids. I was in high school when she got her bachelors (in education). And, she got her masters a few years ago as I was about to start law school.

I will give you one caveat about the online booksellers. Often, you won't know that far in advance what book you need. There might be shipping delays which could really put you in a bind. Most professors put copies of the books on reserve at the school library though. Also, be careful that you are ordering the right edition.

Personally, I prefer getting used books from the school's store. That way, I can look through the ones they have and pick one with less highlighting & writing. It's just too distracting for me to have alot of that stuff.
