i love hearing stories on how people were engaged at disney so I was just curious if you did get engaged there and how?

my fiance and i have been going to disney for over 2 years now (we've gone 5 times in the past 2 years) and I always knew I wanted to get engaged there so that was the plan. Even though I knew we were getting engaged there, I didn't know when or how. well we went for our 4 year anniversary and he knew i wanted him to do it on a day that wasnt our anniversary so i was all excited, 2 days into the trip, still no ring. on our anniversary we went on those boats at the polynesian (seven seas lagoon) walked around the beach there, went on the swings with drinks, then went to epcot for a quick trip there. we went on spaceship earth and he proposed at the absolute top where the shooting stars are and he said "now that we're on top of the world, you know how i feel when im with you, will you marry me" it was amazing and something i didnt expect AT ALL!! after that we went to the california grill, had a window seat and had the best anniversary ever. :-D

We were at WDW last year for my fiancee's Birthday over Labor day weekend. I had always hinted to him that I wanted to get engaged at the Parks, but I was never sure when or where he might do it. Well all my friends had said that they just knew that this would be the trip. Well we went out that night to Tony's in the Magic Kingdom for dinner and I got him a cake and everything for his birthday day and we had a great time. We had planned to go see the fireworks after that all along so I never expected a thing. Well We got a spot over by Crystal Palace and right when they started I felt him tugging on my shirt and he said oh by the way. I turned around and there he was down on one knee with the ring and he asked me to marry him. People around us started to clap and I said yes and I cried like a baby... It was so romantic. Now we are getting married at Disney in a few monthes.... I am soooooo excited. We were there yesterday for the day and I saw a wedding going on and thought WOW that we will be me that everyone passing on the monorail will be looking at soon... :Pinkbounc

DD got engaged at Victoria & Albert's - my SIL sliipped the ring to the staff when they got there, and they placed it on a silver tray with dessert, with rose petals sprinkled around it. He got down on one knee in front of all the other diners and proposed.

DS got engaged at the wishing well on the path behind the castle - Gifts of a Lifetime helped him plan it - if anyone wants to know the plan, please PM me, because Gifts of a Lifetime may be helping some people on this board plan proposals and doesn't want the surprises spoiled.

DD actually was married at the WP almost 9 years ago, with a reception at the Napa and Sonoma rooms in the CG.

I got engaged at MK during Wishes...

We had been at MK all day long, and he had been fine. We went back to the resort to take a nap and change into warmer clothes, and went back to MK for Wishes. He started acting strange as soon as we got back to MK. Wishes didn't start until 9:00 that night, I think. It was about 6:00 when we got back to MK, and he was nervous to go on any rides because we might miss the fireworks. I reassured him, we rode some rides, and went to watch Spectro. After Spectro, he started acting REALLY weird. He kept walking off, first to the bathroom, then to take pictures of the castle - all the while MAKING SURE I stayed where I was, as not to get lost. I just thought he was acting weird.

Then we went towards the castle to get a spot for Wishes. I wanted to stand right in the center of the hub, he insisted that we stand off to the left. We argued, but I gave in, and started to get a strange feeling about the whole situation. When we got to "the spot", I noticed Photopass photographers set up behind us. I thought I had figured him out. He's having them take pictures of the fireworks for me, I thought. I have WDW pictures all over the place at home, especially amature fireworks shots. I figured I was getting professional shots! Call it denial, because in the back of my mind, I thought he might be proposing.

The fireworks started, Tink made her flight, I looked down, and there was my man on his knees... proposing. The rest is a blur, as I was in shock. If it weren't for the pictures, I might not remember a thing...

Check out the pics here... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1176991

First time for my girl at WDW. First day at MK we walk in and Cinderellabration with all the characters on stage (tears in her eyes). The ring box is giving me a blister on my ankle (holding it in my sock since she could easily feel my pockets). After taking a few pics with the characters, we go to the back of the castle where its less crowded. "Lets have someone take out picture" I said. We found someone, we stood next to the castle and I got down on one knee. The lady taking the pics also got teary eyed and people around us start clapping...and we have some great pics.

my DF proposed to me last August in Disney.

we were at MK and we were getting the pictures taken infront of the Castle and before we got them done he said "hang on i gotta ask them a question" so i'm like "ok go ahead" just standing there not thinking about anything. so he comes back, they take the first picture and then RIGHT when they were going to take the second picture i see him kneel down and my first reaction was "OH MY GOD HE IS NOT TYING HIS SHOE IN THE MIDDLE OF THESE PICTURES!" (not to mention i didn't even notice he was wearing SANDALS!) so i go to turn to him to say "what are you doing!?" and he's on one knee and he says "will you let me take care of you forever? will you marry me?" ...so of course i started crying like crazy and said yes. then they took like 8 pictures of us. we wanted to buy a package of each of them, but we didn't have the money.(this is where the story starts to anger me) so the guy at the photo place was like "oh you can go online and buy them you don't have to buy them all here!" so we decided to do that(the photopass) but when we got home, it said our photopass was invalid. we called and called and no one could do anything for us. i was so angry. but at least we bought a package of "the one" where he was on his knee.

but all in all, it was very sweet and very romantic! i could hear people around us gasping and going "look! look!" and then people clapped and yelled, it was like it was something out of a movie

My DF proposed on April 28th of 2006 at the AKL. We had just gotten to Disney that day and decided to go to Boma (one of our faves) for dinner. We had put our names in to get a table and we had about a 45 minute wait so my DF said "Let's go wander around while we wait." He pulled me up to the lobby and said he couldn't wait any longer...he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I was so excited I started to cry and of course I said yes. :cloud9: He said he had originally planned to do it during the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, but the ring was burning a hole in his pocket. ;) (My DF is the kinda guy who buys Christmas presents a few weeks before Christmas and can't wait, so he gives them to you the day he buys them). I was suprised to find out he had the ring for a week before the trip and didn't spill the beans!!

I got engaged in Disneyland last October. My fiance decided he wanted to go on the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour because it takes you into the lobby of Club 33 (members only club). So I went ahead and booked it for us. When we got to the Club the tour guide told us some stuff about the club and then let us take turn having our picture taken in the elevator. When we got in the elevator he dropped to one knee, held up the ring and asked me to marry him. I was so suprised that I burst into tears (I hate crying in public) and all I could do was nod yes. Best of all the tour guide took pictures of the whole thing.
I knew he was planning on proposing because I had found a beautiful ring in the Jewel of Orleans (antique jewelry store in Disneyland) and when he saw how much I liked it he bought it. I didn't know when he was going to do it but I suspected it would be around Valentine's Day this year because that was when we took our first trip to Disneyland together.
We are getting married in November in Laguna Beach and we are staying at the Grand Californian (thanks Dad!) and I plan on heading into the park as soon as we can after the reception is over. We will be in WDW Dec. 5-13 at the WL for our hoenymoon.
Ah, I just love Disney.

My fiance asked me to marry him in Japan. We just finished Illuminations and Dinner at the Typankiy (sp?) Grill. It was about 9:30 so most guests had cleared out. We were just strolling around watching the epcot ball change colors and designs (it was during the flower and garden festivle so there were different flowers on it).

All of the sudden he got down on one knee and asked! It was lovley and romantic! He did it right where the thing in the water (Tori Gate) frames the epcot ball.

We have been back two times since and every time we get our picture taken where he proposed.

That is one of the best proposal stories I have ever heard. :goodvibes

I hope to have a proposal story of my own after our trip in November!

In Feb 05 my DF and I went to Kuwait for a year - so we decided to take one last trip to Disney before that in January. On Jan 15th we spent the morning in the AK and then decided to go to the MK. We were on the monorail coming up to the Grand Floridian. Now - I've been going to DW since I was 3 and had never set foot in that hotel - which I mentioned at that point. He was like, "Well, do you want to get off here and take a look around??" Of course I said yes. So we walked around the hotel for a bit and then I asked if he minded walking over to the wedding pavilion because I'd never been there either. We walked accross the beach and over to it and I was taking pictures and he was standing there watching me. I Finally quit and he takes my hand, pull out the ring box, gives me a beautiful speech, and asks me to marry him! :cloud9:

(The first time he told me he loves me was also at Disney - right in front of the castle. )

The funny part leading into my story is that ever since he was 17, DH decided he wanted to propose by Cinderella's Castle. He had never been to Disney, but he always had his heart set on it. Meanwhile, I come around with my obsessive Disney adoration!! How perfect did that end up being!??!

Anyway, DH planned a trip to WDW under the rouse that is was my birthday/Christmas present. We had talked about getting married in general terms, but I wasn't expecting anything AT ALL. My parents bought us MVMCP tickets for the night of the 16th. We walked into the MK and all of a sudden he became OBSESSED with seeing the castle. Being the Disney Commando that I am and having a newbie in my clutches, I refused to go there immediately, so I packed a bunch of stuff in first. He kept saying that he wanted to be on the bridge of the castle during fireworks. When I told him that we couldn't do that, his face just fell. I felt bad because I thought he just really wanted to stand on the bridge!

After Wishes we were walking to Fantasyland and I took us behind the castle. He grabbed me and told me not to move. I was a bit confused, but did it. He gave the video camera to the CMs working under the castle and came running back. Suddenly I started to clue in. And sob, and sob, until he finally said "Is that a yes!??!" :) No one really stopped to watch or applauded, but it was PERFECT. And now we have it on tape to share with our friends and family forever.

Actually, we're having it put at the beginning of our wedding video. :)

I was lucky enough to have my best friend say yes last October in Disneyland. We are getting married this October and are looking forward to our WDW Honeymoon right after. Anyways, I''ve posted the text from our wedding website below. Oh, and the picture in my sig was taken by a very nice CM as it happened. :)

How Trevor tells it.....

It was long overdue, but the time was finally right to ask Treena to marry me. I'd intended to do it this past January on our trip to Disneyland but with new jobs and a new house it wasn’t the right time. So, this fall I decided to re-create the moment and take Treena back to Disneyland . But this time, I decided it should be a surprise. I booked and take care of everything, from time off, to tickets, hotel, dog sitter, and everything else. I managed to keep it all secret, even after a few close calls. When the day finally arrived, I went into Treena's office and gave her a gift bag with her Mickey Mouse ears and told her we were leaving in two hours! She was speechless (an accomplishment in itself), it took her about 2 minutes to realize what was going on. The whole branch was watching and cheering, and I don't think Treena's feet were even touching the ground by then, it was all she could do to gather her things and walk to the truck. We made one quick stop, then straight to the airport, and by midnight we were in our hotel alongside the Magic Kingdom . The next couple of days in the happiest place on earth were great, the weather was fantastic! But unbeknownst to Treena the best part of the trip was yet to happen. It was Friday October 7th, I had planned an extra special day. We visited the park for the bulk of the day, then went back to the hotel to freshen up. I retrieved the ring and we headed back into the park for a romantic dinner at the Blue Bayou, and then watched Fantasmic from special VIP seating I had arranged. After the show we took our time wandering back towards the entrance. I mentioned to Treena that I wanted to get a picture of us in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle. We wandered over to the castle and I convinced Treena to let a cast member take our picture. I walked over and explained what was going to happen and to just keep snapping pictures. Treena and I posed for a picture, and before she knew it I was one knee asking her to marry me! She was completely speechless... so much so that a small crowd that had gathers were asking her excitedly what the answer was, and she still had a hard time spitting it out. It had gone just as planned.

How Treena Tells It.....

I knew…I totally knew. Nah, I am just kidding. I did not have clue. What a dream come true! To be honest I never thought it would happen in such a spectacular way.

It all started with Trevor surprising me at work with a trip to my favorite place on earth, DISNEYLAND ! He had it all worked out, the time off, the tickets, the hotel; everything, right down to packing my toothbrush and clothes. It was like a dream. He gave me a gift bag and said “Here this is an early Christmas gift” my response was “Ok I will open it at home, where less people are watching” But no, I opened it there and with my delight found 2 tickets to Disneyland…Trevor says with a huge smile on his face “clean off your desk we are leaving in an hour”…. “EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE” was my exact response.

After a very long plane ride, a night without food and five hours of sleep we were finally in the park. What a magical place! We had 2 fun filled days in the park. We rode all our favorite rides, ate all our favorite foods, we were having so much fun. I had no idea what was still to come.

Friday night, after we had been there two days Trevor took me for a romantic dinner at the Blue Bayou, a very swanky restaurant by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Very romantic, we had some great conversation and a fabulous time. Then Trevor had planned for us to watch Fantasmic, a water and light show, with priority seating. That was amazing! I loved every minute. After all that wonderfulness I was ready for sleep. But we both had been talking about how it would be really special to get some pictures in front of the Magic Castle for our parents for Christmas. So, we walked over to the draw bridge, Trevor asked a cast member to take a photo…AND THEN, I remember him saying a bunch of words, and putting something in my hand, and flash from the camera and perhaps a few tears…What a dream! Trevor my romantic man had FINALLY asked me to be his wife…ONE thought was running through my head YES!!!! I thought I said it, however the children who had gathered yelled out …WHAT IS THE ANSWER??!!!??! The rest I must say is a wonderful blur…so much so that later I made Trevor retell me what he had said so I could remember. After all the excitement we walked happily back to the hotel room where we had Champagne.

That is the way I remember it…I still can not believe Trevor went to all that trouble…I would have said yes if he asked me in his pajamas at home. What a wonderful man, I have! He truly makes me feel like a princess everyday of my life!

This friday, August 4, 2006, will be 6 years to the day that DH proposed at the Polynesian Luau. (Five Year Anniversary as well). DH brought his son and me to the Luau that evening. AT the part in the show where they have all the honeymooners and anniversaries come up and they play the hawaiian wedding song, the mistress of ceremonies is saying "Someone wants to ask something of his someone." My DH gets up and takes my hand. I am yelling at him to sit down. Next thing I know, I am on stage, he proposes in front of the whole crowd. I say YES! His son captures the whole thing on camera (stills not video, I was not thinking he would propse that day) so I have somegreat pictures of his daddy on one knee asking me the big question! The rest of the night people would come over and congratualate us. It was a very magical moment.

I knew that he would propose at Disney because it has always been special to me (passholder since 1982 with parents) and he made me day.

We will celebrate this Friday our 5 year anniversary. We are headed to the Luau with my DS-17 and Our daughter DD-2. Can't wait for a magical weekend (tropical storm Chris better say away)! DREAMS DO COME TRUE!

Now planning the 10 year vow renewal and saving my money!
Thanks for letting me share.
Suzy :wizard: princess:

:wizard: Awww, the stories are so beautiful! I cry everytime I read a new one!

Phisigprincess, that is so adorable that he wanted to propose in front of the castle since he was 17 and hadn't even been there!

Beefpile, what an amazing suprise to have all the details taken care of! :wizard:

:lovestruc My DH proposed to me just outside the MK in 01/01. We had spent the day at MK and wanted to see Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks before we went to the Hoopdee Do Review. The MK was very crowded on this night so DH suggested that we head outside the park to see the fireworks. We came out of the MK and walked past the boat launchs and monorail station. We watched the fireworks from the beach along the Walkway with the Walk a Round the World Bricks. After the fireworks we went to the end of the walkway. There is a deadend with benches and palm trees. We were sitting there relaxing when DH told me that he thought that the pirates (we are from Tampa and it was Gasperilla weekend *also Super Bowl in Tampa ) had left a treasure for me in the sand. He had me close my eyes and grabed my right hand hand. I knew he was going to propose but just did not know when; so I had to remind him that he was holding the wrong hand  Then he asked me to be his wife. We went to dinner and drank lots to celebrate! We even had Randy Chapman take some of our engagement pictures where we got engaged. Of course we had a Fairytale Wedding! :bride:

My DF proposed this past May 2nd at POR Resort. WDW has been my favorite place in the world since I took my first trip there at 5. Since then I've been back at least once a year, so he says he knew this was the only place to propose. We had been talking about marriage, but I didn't think it would come any time soon because I didn't think he had enough money for a ring. I was hoping he would propose this trip, but I had packed his suitcase for him and helped him unpack and he didn't freak out, so I figured there couldn't be a ring anywhere. We had checked in on Friday and spent the whole weekend without a proposal, so at that point I *knew* there was no way he was proposing on this trip. That Tuesday we were laying around the pool at POR and then went to dinner at Boatwrights. After dinner we took a carriage ride around POR, which was so beautiful and romantic. The entire ride he kept trying to say how badly he had wanted to propose this trip but couldn't because of money constraints - and each time I would change the subject because I was uncomfortable with the carriage driver overhearing. The ride went by and I could tell he was frustrated, so we took a long walk back to our room, which was beautiful with the resort all lit up at night. We entered a courtyard just outside our room with a huge fountain in the middle. I thought it was gorgeous all lit up, so I asked him to take my picture and went to sit on it. He started fumbling with the camera and then ran up to me and goes, "Wait, I have a better idea." Then he grabs my shoulders and tries to spin me around, and all I was thinking was that he was trying to pose me for a better shot. The next thing I know he is down on one knee and holding an amazing ring in my face. I was in complete shock. He said a gorgeous speech, but I can't remember it, all I remember saying is, 'Are you serious!?! YES!!!!'

It turns out, he had the ring over-nighted to the POR front desk so that I wouldn't see it, and went to go pick it up under the guise of getting a soda from the food court!

What an awesome proposal!! That sounds soo romantic, you must have been on :cloud9:! My DF proposed this past April 28th in Disney, and we were there until May 4, so we were there when you were engaged as well! Congrats!

I was completely on Cloud 9! Then we got to spend the last 5 days of our trip celebrating... it was the greatest! And congrats to you, too. Your proposal sounds just as great! How can any proposal at WDW be bad?
