I just received a letter in the mail that my Chase Rewards cards is now changing to the Chase CashBuilder rewards program. It states that effective Aug. 4, ALL purchases earn only 1 point per dollar spent. So I guess this means no more 5% on gas, groceries, drug store... I'm really bummed. I just got the card a month or so ago after reading on the DIS what a great earner this card was. Now it looks like I won't have the chace to find out! I was really hoping to rack up some extra Disney $$$! Did anyone else receive this letter?

I have not received this letter yet. I too just signed up for this card a month ago and was looking forward to an additional way to earn 5% back on gas, groceries and pharmacies. I am eager to hear from others who may have received this letter as well.

If this is so, I will use the card until August 4th, take the $100 bonus that I was to get for opening and using the account, and then I will put the card away so that it won't be used again.

I too signed up a month ago after seeing it here. I just got the card in the mail today. Everything still says 5%.......

I'm sure it will come in a separate letter. Bummer!!!

However, for cash, this card will still be better (but not as good as I had hoped) than the Capital One card I have. I've gotten many free airline tix off of Capital One, but they've increased how many points needed for a tix.....and it's only 1/2% earned if cashing in for $.

ETA: A month ago, we all signed up for Chase's "Cash plus Rewards" Mastercard. Card received today says "Chase Rewards" on it, like the ad showed. Were you in the "Cash plus Rewards" program? Is that was was changed?

I hope this is not true. I just started using one solely for gas and groceries. I guess I'll have to start looking for a better one. Any ideas??

I just got this card too for the $100 bonus. I ordered some furniture and used the card to pay for it earning the $100 bonus and 1% on the purchase. I had not intended to use again after that anyway, but I have not received anything saying it would change to 1% on everything.

For the poster that asked about other good cash back reward cards, we have Citicard that also pays 5% on gas, groceries and pharmacy purchases ($300 max per calendar year) DH and I both have one so we can get $300 on each one.

It looks like Chase is changing a lot of things. I just posted a thread that they are changing their AOL Visa. Instead of earning points toward your AOL bill, it will now be their Flexible Rewards which lets you pick from cash, gift cards, merchandise, airlines or travel.

AT&T Universal Master Card (CITI) is also cancelling their card. I called yesterday to make sure it isn't "just mine" and they said no, they are cancelling all of that type. It also earned 5% on groceries, gas and drug stores.

is this all Citi Cards being cancelled or just the Citi/At&t cards??
We have the Citi dividends card

Rats! So both Chase AND Citibank are doing away with these cards? Grrr! I can't say I'm surprised, though. These cards are such a good deal that I bet they're not making much money on them, especially from people like me who almost exclusively charge the 5% categories and put the 1% stuff on another card. I hope I can get another $100 before it changes. I haven't received anything in the mail yet...If they both go to 1%, I'll probably just go back to using the Disney Visa. I use all our credit card rewards for our vacations anyway.

I'm in the process of paying off my Chase card now. I'm not happy with them changing things all the time.

I just did a Google Search for Citibank's Dividend Card - the one with 1% Cash Back on all purchases and 5% for gas, groceries, and pharmacies and they are still offering this card HERE at the Citibank Site.

But yesterday when I did the same kind of search for Chase, I was not able to find any current description of a similar card. :(

I know that both of my older DDs have both gotten solicitations from Citibank for the Dividend Card within the past week or so, so I am hoping that Citibank has not discontinued their program.

All I know is that Chase just change their United Airlines Mileage Plus card. It used to be 1 mile for every dollar spent and you could earn extra miles for certain things like eating out at certain restaurants and buying groceries at certain food store chains.

Now you earn "points" that you can redeem for free United flights. You need 10 points for every dollar the airline ticket costs. This is supposed to be better than the old program because there are no blackout dates, and if you find a really cheap airfare it could take very few points to redeem award travel. I hate it. I never traveled durring blackout periods and since I already fly for free due to a benifit I get from my employer, I used the miles to upgrade to first class. Plus, it was just 25,000 miles to anywhere in the lower 48 states, so if United was being a butthead and chargeing $400 for Chicago to Orlando, it didn't matter, it was still 25,000 miles. That $400 ticket will now be 40,000 points, and it will take almost twice as long to earn it on the credit card. I may not have my free flights benifit forever and would like a better program to earn free ones if I ever need to.

I'm not a happy camper!

I too have a Chase Rewards card - got the 15 months at 0% interest for all purchases, so I racked up charges to pay off in December, and haven't used it since. I did get $150 in rewards out of it too. Oh well, I guess I'll not use it again after I pay it off at the end of the promotional period. I have had enough trouble with Chase customer service, and now they are taking over my Kohl's charge too!

I haven't heard anything about our citbank dividend platinum select card changing. I just got an email saying I would get $25 for refering people to it, last week, and I've already referred, and they signed up. Still 5% for pharmacy, gas and groceries, 1% for all else.

I just got an offer for a Citi Am Ex card today with a 5% cash back on groceries & gas. Hmmm, if this is the wave of them all, perhaps I will have to rethink this.

Is this the Chase Rewards Plus card? I didn't get a letter (that I read anyway) about it. I hope I still have my 5 percent on gas/groceries.

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Just interested in this did anyone else get this letter? I've not.

I haven't either. But I have a feeling that we all will be receiving it soon. As I mentioned above, you cannot find a description of this card on the Chase site. I think that it is on its way out.

No letter here yet still. (knock on wood) From the looks of it on FatWallet.com's Finance forum, everyone is confused. LOL

Just waiting & seeing & praying it doesn't change.
