Anyone else frustrated by Netflix queue waits?

Is it just me, but does it seem like wait times are getting out of hand for some DVDs? I've been wanting to see The Skeleton Key for 3 weeks now, and all that my queue reports is "very long wait". :sad1: There are 5 other movies on my queue that say "long wait" or "very long wait". For those of you who have dealt with Netflix even longer, is this how it goes?

That's why I finally ended my Blockbuster.com subscription. The waits were very short at first, and then were weeks and weeks long, even for older movies.

We had Netflix in the Fall of 2004 and it was great. As the holidays approached, however, wait times increased and delivery times increased as well. Right around Christmas, when everyone was home and wanted to watch movies, we weren't getting anything! I think it was a combination of increased subscriptions for winter, gift subscriptions given for Christmas, and increased mail volume due to people sending Christmas cards and gifts.

We got Netflix again this summer for a few months. I have no idea why, but movies that Netflix was listing as "sent" were taking 3 or more days to arrive, when they had taken no more than 2 days during our prior subscription (except for the holidays). Also, during our latest subscription, we had to report 3 movies missing in 3 months -- two of the movies were missing FROM Netflix and one on the way to Netflix. All of the movies magically were recovered by Netflix in some magical fashion. Personally, I suspect that Netflix has such a large number of subscribers that movies are not being processed on the day they arrive.

If you really want to watch one of the movies that has a long wait time, delete all other movies out of your queu. It may take a couple days of waiting, but if there are no older movies in your queu, Netflix will send you one of the new movies.

Time for the holiday throttling. I've been having the same problem. Instead of next day arrival at the netflix center, it takes 2-3 days for them to get my returns. My top 5 movies are currently showing long waits so I'm getting movie choice 6 7 and 10 this week.

It gets better after the holidays, though. and gets back to complete normal come spring when the weather is better and people spend less time watching movies.

I have had no problem. Then again it takes me forever to return a movie. I always get my first pick. I just returned Skeleton Key. Hopefully you'll get it.

It wasn't that good.

Yep. Same thing here.

I did get "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" yesterday and am getting "War of the Worlds" today.

In my Q

Very Long Wait today is...."Madagascar" & "Redwall The Movie"

Long Wait...."Skeleton Key" & "March of the Penguins"

Short Wait..."Sky High"

We've never had any major issues with Netflix. When there is a movie that I really want, I will put it at the top of my queue and often it will come ever if a wait is listed. Don't know that I've done that with a "very long wait", though. Maybe it's a movie that they don't have many copies of and someone is stting on it. We're very bad about watching our movies quickly and returning them fast.

We've been waiting for a few weeks now for Star Wars: Episode III, but I just checked this morning and it changed from long wait to short wait so we'll see. Sometimes I can't believe the movies that have waits on them, for example on my queue, Amadeus has a wait!

This is why I am on the verge of cancelling blockbuster. Almost everything I want even old movies is a long wait. I sent an email complaining about it but they prettty much said there is nothing they could do about it. I was going to try netflix but I don't think so now.

We haven't had a problem with waits at all. It may depend on what part of the country you live in :confused3 . BTW, I just returned Skeleton Key today and it was very good. I hope you get it soon.

I added Ep III to my queue Monday and got it yesterday (wed). Go figure. Must be the differnce in NJ and NC.

Exactly the reason I stopped using Netflix over 2 years ago. We were never recieving new movies.

Where in MD are you? We're in Montgomery County and get the new releases within 2 days. Of course if I wait and the movie has a long wait I won't get it, but otherwise it's very fast.

About 2 years ago, we also had this problem for new movies. But since then we are usually pretty happy with the service. Sometimes for the newest big hit moivie we have to wait (especially if it's a kids' movie) but it's usually not that long. As for turn around, from the time we put one in the mail and recieve one back it is usually 3-5 days. Not bad. I'm happy with Netflix...now if I only had more time to watch the movies.

Did it say Very Long Wait or Long Wait???? Just curious.

I still love Netflix since I loathe renting movies from a store. Also they do not carry the Anime that dd watches.

I have had netflix for over 2 years and I have never once not got my top movies in Queue. Denver has a main netflix hub though so maybe that is a reason. I sent 2 movies back Saturday and got 2 more yesterday, including 1 new release (madagascar).

Sorry it isn't working out as well for all you that are having problems.

Blahhh...I've been trying to get Skeleton Key from Blockbuster online for 2 weeks now and all it ever says is short wait, long wait...what is it with this movie lol! Now I'm stuck with sub par movies that i just had on my queue for backups :confused3

Me too. I have had Skeleton Key and Madagascar (Both are Nov 15 release dates) up there since BEFORE it released and still have not gotten it.

I'm not sure having a hub close has anything to do with it. Even 2 years ago there was one very close to me. (I live near several urban areas, but not in one.) I always recieved my movies quickly....next day...just not the ones I wanted to see.

As far as brand new releases, movies are officially released on Tuesdays. I try to have a movie that is arriving there on a Monday, with the brand new release in my #1 spot and I have always had the movie mailed out that day. Of course I can't always time it to send a movie back at the right time, but since our distribution center is down the street (it's closer than the post office) it's easy to get the timing down right if I do have a movie to return.
