got back last week and in some parks finger identifications worked and in others did not...had to scan my card as well as families sometimes up to 4 times before it would take...

I find it odd than in some parks you just got in without putting your fingers in machines..

anybody know how this really works?

Biggest problem I saw was people not placing their fingers all the way into the machines. They don't seem to work properly if fingers aren't as far forward as they can go.

They've been using this system for AP holders for quite awhile. I think now w/ the more people using it the more room for error. Also, all those fingers must smudge the "scanner" and after awhile one would think make reading less effective.
I had read reports that when it got very busy they were going to be bypassing the machines. I haven't heard too much of that happening though.

THe finger scans have often failed to work for our AP's , so no wonder there is a problem with using that method for all tickets.

That's what I noticed as well. I only came across one instance where it seemed as if the machine itself wasn't working. How hard would it be for them to put up a picture demonstrating how to put your fingers in? :confused3

I found out on my last trip that if you keep your card too close to your cell phone, it can mess up your passcard. That can be anywhere from making it hard to scan the fingers to a full erasure of the card.

It got erased on my friend on our last trip, by keeping the two objects in the same pocket. The CMs at guest relations then told us that was a no-no. It was our last day so he didn't bother getting a new card, but that was his only option if he wanted to go park hopping or something.

Haha....My travel companion had NO LUCK whatsoever with those thing throughout our entire April trip. You can even read about it in my trip reports. I think you really have to pay attention to which fingers you use at first scan. If you try to use different fingers, it will reject you. Just a hint.

A few years ago, we were there for 2 weeks using APs. It seemed they never worked for all eight of us every time. So we all switched APs, no one had their own pass. I know....against the rules and ill behaved :duck: but it was the product of four teens bored on a disney bus. Anyway, every one of the eight of us passed through the finger scan with out a problem. It is a less than perfect system. Thankfully national security does not depend upon it!
