Anyone else feel "out of it" politically?

I think that political debates are healthy and important. I'm actually very impressed with how politically savvy a lot of you DISers are - even if you don't agree with each other you certainly are passionate and informed about your viewpoints. To me, that's a good thing.

Even though I read the paper and watch the news, I wish I was more aware of what's really going on in this country. I feel like it's so overwhelming (who's right, who's wrong?) when both sides seem to make great points and then they both do something which even I can see is wrong. I'm embarrassed to say that I can always see where both sides are coming from which makes it that much harder to figure out where to stand. I know the true political junkies will be offended that I'm so wishy-washy but I think that I'm probably in the majority of Americans.

I'm trying to keep up on local and state politics but National? I'll have to keep working on it.

you arent alone :)

I know how *I* feel about things but its pretty hard to keep up with how each candidate feels about each thing.

Someone said earlier ( to paraphrase as I understood it) that you have to go with whats MOST important to you and then cast your vote with the candidate that most matches those values. I think thats very good advice. no one is going to agree 100% with any one candidate on every issue.

Its difficult to keep up with ALL politics ( local, State, and Federal) . I would think even more so in States that tend to waiver from party to party. Im in Idaho we dont have that issue here. Its pretty much Republican down the line.

I enjoy the Political threads (as long as they dont turn into " youre a loser because you feel that way") because I learn about both sides. People can be so pasionate about politics and from reading the opinions of others here I have learned a lot! I think thats the point of debating these things. I cant say that Ive neccesarily changed my point of view but I HAVE learned a lot.

Anyway,
youre not alone :)

Political issues are rarely as black and white as they are made out to be by various politicians.

Nothing wrong with seeing both sides. In fact, I'd consider that a significant asset ;)

I've had a passion for politics since I was in high school. worked my first campaign at 16. I've taken political science courses in college.

some people have a natural affinity for it. some do not.

you may not care about every issue on every level, but if you try to stay reasonably informed, you'll know what you care about and who best represents your views.

I kinda lost being "into" it when the voters passed a term limit law restricting terms to 2. The Idaho legislature overturned it, and then voted themselves a pay raise.:(
