We visited the fort for the first time last summer for 10 nights and had an awesome time. We faced the post fort blues and were able to pull through as a family.:grouphug: Then we faced the facts that we would need to skip a year and work on some home projects before going back. Again everyone understood.(I thought) Little did I know what the evil little people had in store. DW, DS(11), DD(9), DS(5) have had a change of heart. I tried to explain the situation again with no luck. What started as questions went to begging, and now an all out mutiny. They have circled the wagons and I am running out of ammo. It's a matter of time before they break me and they know it.:scared: I can see the smirks on their faces. Anybody else under attack? I know it will be awesome to go, but I have run out of talking points and I am just the mean ol' Dad. I might feel better if I know I am not alone. What to do!!

I can feel for you, totally understand.
I cannot give you any ideas on how to handle your problem, because even tho we can't afford to hit the Fort right now, I wanna go as badly as your family.

But I believe that cabin fever has some to do with your situation,:confused3 Once spring breaks and the family can start gett'n out and about, it'll take a little load off,,but it won't stop all the Fort withdrawls,
there really is no known cure for the Fort Withdrawls.

Sorry guy,,hang in there !:thumbsup2

How about a 5 day trip?
Reminds me of a family vote we once had, an above ground pool or a trip to Daytona Beach. We all voted then came Dad. His was the best, how about a smaller pool AND a shorter trip to Daytona, then we can do both. Dad WON.
I know economic times are tough right know and I'm sure you are the one using your head. The only thing is, time goes by SO fast and the time will come that the kids don't want to go anywhere with the folks.
If you go, have the ground rules of very little eating out, no extras and not every day at a park. Sometimes, this kind of trip tends to ending up being the best.
Best of luck with your choice.

Stop being so mean and take the poor kids to Disney ya big meanie!!!! :lmao:
Actually I gotta agree with Flafortcampster on this.. time is so so short and you never know what next year will bring!!! I was lucky and only had to 3 youngest ones to fight with and I made it to 2 years!!
Maybe a shorter and closer trip will help keep them satisfied till next year!
Thats what I credit with making it!! And my DS breaking his collar bone at the beginning of summer!!

Maybe you can do both. Are there any other things in the budget that can be reduced. Maybe give up the pay channels on cable, lower your minutes on the cell phone, no eating out for a while, no brand at the grocery store for a while instead of name brand, use coupons, etc. You can't avoid the home projects, but maybe you can find a way to reduce their costs so there's extra money for your trip. As a last resort, can you put it on the credit card? Is there a way you can figure out how much the trip will cost, and and make it a priority to make monthly payments for a few months to the credit card to get it paid off as quickly as possible. Good luck with your mutiny.

When my son hit 13 he no longer wanted to go to Disney:guilty: ...he only wants to go this year because his girlfriend is going too and she's never been (she's 18)

Do what's best for your family...let them participate in the "savings". Eat out less, give up some little pleasures. A family friend who is going with us this year gave up smoking when we chided her on how much "Disney money" was going up in smoke. Go if at all possible, but do what's best for you!

After I saw how much we lost in our retirement funds, I wish we'd had gone twice a year for a few years! Bleh! :faint:

THIS, by far, is the best incentive in the world to quit smoking...I tried it, I FAILED...but damnit..it was the best reason I ever had to TRY to quit.

When ya got it...ya GOT IT!!!:rotfl2:

Around here, the plotting and scheming techniques are running thin...the crying is losing its effect, the pouting goes un-noticed, the begging is laughed at...I NEED NEW TECHNIQUES....my wife is TOUGH!!!:scared:

Thanks for the responses. I knew I was dead meat from the get go. I guess I was just holding out until they were willing to make some concessions. They finally broke me down when they pulled out the DVD's from last year and they all snuggled up with me, got me drinks, you know the drill. Concessions were made, plans laid out, and I lose again. My little evil army wins again.:) Bad part is I think the 5yr old is the mastermind. ;) Anyway, now that I am in, I am all in. It's the only way to be. Let the fun begin.

Oh, sorry..He's 16 now...dating 5 months and counting. Isn't that like 4 years in teen years?

Long after the bills for the trip are paid, the memories will remain. I predict this will be one of the best trips you will ever have.
Of course you know you will have to file a TR with pics...........:thumbsup2
