Anyone else ever worry about WDW outdoor snacks going bad/heat?

Okay, first of all, I have to say that I have in fact had food poisoning twice in my life: once, chicken that had not been thoroughly cooked and, the second time, mayonnaise that had gone bad on a Chik-Fil-A sandwich in Cincinnati---almost had to be hospitalized!

I realized that there're some snacks--particularly from outdoor vendors--at WDW that I'd kind of like to try, but then get spooked that between the heat, etc., they may have gone "bad"...I'm thinking of the turkey legs, egg rolls, chicken stand at AK. I so wish I didn't have this paranoia! Even at buffets, I find myself steering clear of mayonnaise-based side dishes or meats that look like they've been sitting out for a while.

Anyone else share in this worry?

Karla B. :woohoo: Just over 1 1/2 weeks til we're at WDW...ASMo and VWL!!! :woohoo:

Never from my own kitchen, but if there is a bad piece of chicken in the bunch, it winds up on my plate. I've had it all, trust me. I am really careful with my food handling and watch carefully for trouble when eating out.

That said, after many, many WDW meals, I have only had one incident of distress, and that was from the Koko Puffs at the Kona Cafe (DH and I shared...the pastry dough seemed undercooked and we were both fighting over the bathroom within half an hour).

I eat with confidence at WDW.

Ditto. These look like little food carts, but they've got electrical service, so they can assure food is kept at the property temperature, hot or cold.

When we ordered our turkey leg, it was servered directly from a heated unit.

From what I've read recently, commerical mayo is more of a preservative than a problem. It's only homemade mayo with really raw eggs that should be treated with caution. Again, this was something I read recently.

Wow, food poisoning - one of my favorite topics!

:rotfl2:

Just kidding of course. I must be incredibly lucky, but I've never had it. When I was in college I ate 2 raw eggs twice a day. I eat my beef and lamb rare and my pork chops med-rare. I eat raw oysters throughout the year, even the summer months.

I wouldn't worry about Disney's outdoor food service. If it was a hazard, tons of people would be sick and it would be shut down.

By the way, I love Chick-fil-a mayo since it comes in those little packets, and I get to squeeze about 5 of them into a pile to dip my waffle fries in!

I feel (mainly) reassured about the issue...

Slapster: It was the packet of mayo at Chick-Fil-A that got me...never again will I say,"This mayonnaise tastes a little odd..." and keep eating it! :teeth:

Chakrandi Chicken Shop at AK that you referred to is not a stand. It does not have a dining room (just seats nearby) but it is a true kitchen. It would be no less safe than Tusker House, Flame Tree, etc.

FYI, Chakranadi Chicken Stand is not a cart, but a restaurant with a take out window.

Ice cream melts. :rotfl2:

They don't though do they, until they get 'em out the cart? It goes from concrete hard to licking it up off the pavement in about 30 seconds :rotfl2:

Husband work there at Disney for years as a chef and has talk about this often (food safety issues) he said management was very strict making sure time and temp logs where done on a regular base and stuff being tossed when needed management wood stress this is one law suit we can prevent with enough documentation .
