Anyone else done with the 60+ FP rule?

Not sure why it doesn't seem fair.
Everyone has to follow the same rules.
Its not Disney's fault your trip is shorter than someone else's.
BTW I generally go on short trips as well and I have not gotten SDD or FOP but I'm not "mad".
If I really want to experience those things I will wait in the SB line.
If you are not finding enjoyment from your trips then you may want to reconsider where you vacation.

There’s no way to really implement a reservation system to allow equal opportunity booking. For every person that would welcome booking FP every morning 60 days before the park day, there’s a person who cannot make that work whether it’s because they’re at work, sleeping, or otherwise occupied when the window opens. Remember, it’s not 7 AM for everyone.

Ugh I know its like how many times are we gonna beat this subject to death.
7am eastern doesn't work for me it should be noon. Ok well noon doesn't work for me so it should be 7pm eastern....
Then you have the people that say midnight was better yeah until those are the people that have some kind of technical issue and then they are saying I need it to be when Disney can answer the phone to help me... hence the 7am eastern.
60 days doesn't work for me it should be 56 days since that is exactly 8 weeks out and I can remember that better than 60 days...

I think the system is fair. I enjoy it. I’ve also never had an issue with it. I think for me i know either way it’ll always work out. Everyone gets so stuck on plan plan and over plan with Disney. I’m a go with the flow kinda person and know it’ll work out and I’ll be able to do everything I want regardless. Disclaimer I’m usually With a smaller group and I have no kids so it’s easierr for me since I’m mostly worrying about myself

I say just go back to in park day of fast passes

I truly doubt it. The complaints they got when TSM was out of FP within 30 minutes of park opening must have been insane.

Will they attempt it with SW once they finally implement FP? Maybe but they’ll never get rid of prebooking. It was allegedly to get a feel for potential crowds to staff accordingly.

They also talked about locking people into their plans ahead of time. Advance FP are another reason to buy tickets ahead of time instead of at the gate, guaranteeing the ticket sale as well as their time at Disney once in Orlando.

That too

That would be an epic disaster, to say the least.

There's no one solution that's going to make everyone happy. We are offsite people, so we never get the benefit of 60+ days...we get 30 days or sometimes less due to also being AP. Sometimes it's a bit of an annoyance, but overall I'm pretty pleased with how they have it.

how would it be an "epic disaster" to do away with FPP? Everyone wants everything "fair" why not make it fair and go back to where everyone just stood in line? Of course if they did, then you would have people complain that it isn't fair they pay more for their vacation but have to stand in line like the rest. There is no perfect solution as it was stated, there's no one way to please everyone. In a time when everyone wants everything to be fair game, it has to be realized that not everything is.

Keep checking. I didn't even book our trip until under 60 days out (the trip was last week, so busy spring break season). I was never able to grab SDD, but I got on a checked a few times a day and was able to get a FOP at maybe 30 ish days out.

I agree!
I booked about 45 days out, and was able to get a FOP on a 5 night trip. OP, just keep checking.

I agree that there is a lot to do at Disney, but FoP is the best ride I have ever been on. If you book one of the properties that allow 60 day FP, it stinks that you cannot get FP for SDD and FoP for shorter trips. We did luck out and snag a FoP FP when Disney released extra Fast Passes, and we also were able to get one day-of by refreshing and going right before closing, so a total of three rides in one day was great. However, we did not know if it would work out or not. It would be nice to just get the FP so you can at least ride it one time. I hope you can get your FP, OP!

Due to my brother being in the military (and oversees at the time), he was only able to buy tix at SOG the day before we went to the parks. We got a very few FPs for what one might term less desirable choices. However, there is soooo much to do that we had a wonderful time anyhow! Don't let the lack of a FPs stop you from having a great time!

This. Once upon a time - and NOT that long ago - if you were using the CM one-day passes they get 2 of every 6 months, you didn't even have a ticket to connect to anything until the day you cashed that paper in for a ticket. I had several trips under this (either my sister was giving me her passes OR I was a Disney Store CM myself and had them) and still had wonderful trips and got to ride everything I wanted!

I'm not sure of the solution, but I'm worried about the same thing for our trip July 4th week. I have HS and AK scheduled for late in the trip to improve my chances. But with all of the other hotels receiving 60 day FP+ benefits in addition to onsite hotels and with the reduction of EMH hours, Disney is reducing the value of staying onsite for our family. After this trip, we might stay at a 60 day offsite hotel and use the money saved for EMM and/or DAH so we can ride the headliners. Which would probably suit Disney just fine ;)

In one way or another, Disney has always favored some segment of guests. With the old system, those who hit the parks early and knew how to work the system were rewarded. Now those who book longer trips are. From Disney’s point of view, it makes a lot more sense to reward those who spend more, purely from a business standpoint.

I had a 5 night stay last October and couldn’t get SDD and FOP at 60 days either, but I checked daily and ended up getting them both at around 45 days.

There are 3 rides in all of Disney that are troublesome to get, but even those can be had with a little effort. A complete revamp of the system for 3 rides doesn’t seem reasonable to me.

Because, on crowded days you'll still wait 2 hours for FOP. Yes, it might make the line move a little faster but don't kid yourself that it would drop wait times.

That being said I hate that non Disney hotels but ‘good neighbor’ or whatever they are called get 60 day booking too.

Me too. I wish they got 45 days so there was still a benefit for whatever Disney terms a "good neighbor" or "preferred" hotel, but I'm going to be sad if we chose onsite mainly for FP access and we can't get them.

Perhaps things will get a little bit better once Disney starts charging for fastpass on the more popular rides

If that charging replaces the 60+ day booking advantage? No way. That would just open it up to a much, much larger group of people who would just stay at an AirBnB and pay for fastpasses over paying Disney's prices to stay in their hotels for multiple days.
