What a way to bring in the new year  This is our family's first trip to Disney, and we CANNOT WAIT!!!:yay: We are going from 12/30/10 through 01/06/11. Counting down! Any recommendations on where to spend NYE? The travel agent suggested Epcot. I'm sure it's fun everywhere!

WOW....Congrats on your first trip to Disney, but curious, how you came to choose New Year Eve ? :confused3

We were there this past New Years, primarily to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday on the 30th. Magic Kingdom closed due to being filled to capacity several times during the week! It was extremely crowded (that said by someone who's made 8 trips during the past 9 years) , and I can't say I'd recommend this time of year for a first timer to Disney. But I understand that sometimes we have to take trips when we can.

If that's the case with you, then I would suggest that you do as much research on the parks, the fast-pass system, and the park layouts as much as possible. Read these boards and definitely make ADRs to eat at table service resturants. Only by some small chance, will you score a walk up to a resturant during this busy time.

Good luck with your planning!

I have heard that it's extremely crowded for New Year's Eve, but I have also heard that it is amazing that time of year also. My thought is that yes, there will be crazy crowds, but that these will die down starting Jan 1. This way, we'll be able to experience the magic of NYE and also have a quiet trip the rest of the time there. Is it so bad that you would recommend we travel perhaps from Jan 2 to Jan 8? Our dates aren't set in stone. Thanks for your input!!!

I was at MK for New Year's Eve. It was quite crowded, but if you plan accordingly, everything should be ok. I was at the park from about 10 a.m. until after midnight. I never ran out of things to do.

It was an amazing time, one of the best ones we've ever had, but it was extremely crowded. It was one of those things I could read about but had to experience to believe it.

Looking at the calendar, Jan. 1 is on a Saturday, so I would guess that the crowds might leave out on the 2nd, but a lot of that will depend on when those folks' school systems return to school after the break. :confused3

Is it so bad that I would say go another time? I can't really answer that for you. We actually had one of the best times we've ever had at Disney! :) But we've been 8 times and we've ridden all the stuff, seen all the shows in past visits. If this is the trip of a lifetime, or you don't think you'll be back in many years, I might say wait until it's a little less crowded. But only you can decide that.

It IS possible to have a great visit during this time of year. But it will be imperative that you do your homework and be prepared. :thumbsup2
