deep clean the house before going on holiday?
my mates have been taking the mickey as each room is getting a complete overhall before i leave.
done upstairs and most of downstairs just the kitchen to do.
when i say deep clean, everything comes out of cupboards and re organised you d be amazed what i have found :rotfl2:
finally finished packing the suitcases too, sat in dining room waiting for next week.
am i organised, no just paranoid!
(do you think my son gets his OCD from me!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
tracy

Not a deep clean but extremely tidy. I cannot leave the house otherwise.

I'm not quite that bad - as in I don't empty everything out the cupboards but I do thoroughly clean the house from top to bottom. I don't know why I bother as its always dusty when we get back - where does it come from? :confused3

My DH always complains that the only time the house is clean is when we are on holiday! LOL!

My Dad's girlfriend couldn't rest last week when we went for a coffee because she had 'emergency' cleaning to do before she went on holiday. We had to take her home early so she could finish cleaning. She's only visiting relatives in Brighton too :rotfl2:

This reminds me of the Peter Kay sketch where he talks about his mum hoovering at the crack of dawn on the day they go on holiday! :rotfl2: I'm a terrible housekeeper at the best of times so I tend to just do my normal half-hearted clean but I do have to check the plugs several times then get my bf to!

Hi Guys.

My DH tells everyone that I leave the house cleaner when were away than at home.

I have to have an empty Wash basket and Ironing Basket:laundy: and with four children this can be some doing.

Car must be valetted. Beds all changed. Fridge/Dishwasher cleaned out.

Bonkers, absolutely Bonkers

I think it is so you start with a clean slate when you come back.

I do too, even defrost fridge/freezer:lmao: Glad I'm not the only one!

Since knowing someone whose kitchen was destroyed when her fridge burst into flames I always empty my fridge freezer and disconnect it when I'm away for more than a few days.

(Though it crosses my mind that it would be safer to have a fire while we're not here than when we are.)

I clean the kitchen and bathroom but don't worry about anything else.

i do this also, but when i get back proceed to do it all again as the dust has settled. i also go round opening all the windows because the house smells stuffy, which is not so bad, but coming home from a hot climate to the machester weather, i then have my dd, ds, and dh, sat there shivering and they and i end up with the sniffles

Yes me too,I havent met a person who doesnt :lmao:
I love having a good ole clean before leaving and its true its the cleanest it has been when we are away! no kiddies wrecking the place its a shame when you get home it looks like a bomb has exploded with washing/new buys/bits and bobs everywhere :lmao:

i do this also,i change bed sheets as well nothing beats getting back into your own bed with clean sheets when you have jetlag ....
then you wake up to loads of dirty washing :(

Hiya

yes I deep clean before we go, I like coming home knowing that all I need to do is wash what we took and put away what we bought.

I clean from top to bottom too change the beds clean windows etc. But while i am away my mom comes up and does it all again LOL. She also fills the cupboards and fridge the day before we come back bless her.

We leave the house tidy but no way do we have time to do a deep clean. Bed is left as it is with a sheet over it as the cats love sleeping there while we are away. Change the bed once we are home. As for washing try and do all the underwear and towels plus other smelly items such as t-shirts we cover up with going to and from the pool before we come home.

Claire ;)

I'm excately the same, clean house from top to bottom and yes those kitchen cupboards have to be done..

On thursday morning i intend to get up and clean whats left over, bring suitcases and everything thats going in car onto the living room floor, leave at 6pm for a evening at the pub for meal so i dont have to dirty cooker/plates. come home sleep. wake up friday wash and change beds, bath the children. then leave for london. :cool1: :cool1:

we need to clean our house before we left otherwise it would look as if its been burgled clothes shoes handbags holiday things absolutely everywhere

theres nothing like coming home to a freshly made up bed and having a little rest
