Anyone else disappointed?

not disappointed. I expected this change this year and posted it on treads discussing rumors. Since this policy started to change late last year and we saw a longer day ticket requirement on some packages and only QS on value stays I saw this coming. I booked the BB for this september because I had a strong feeling this was going to be the case. Glad I did, since the BB only required a 1 day ticket and the basic ddp on my Pop accommodation. This will be my last free ddp package. I'm an AP holder (and DVC member).

I am a DVC member and AP holder too and I did free dining last year. I still have my 1 day ticket to use for my next AP. I stayed at POP and upgraded to the DxDP. It was so cost effective that I was hoping to combine a short free dining stay with a DVC stay every fall. But I probably won't be doing that because of the added cost of the two day tickets and the added cost to upgrade to DxDP. It was fun while it lasted.

I still think its a great deal for non DVC non AP holders, but I think its at the break even point for me. Probably easier just to stay all DVC with TIW card. We will see what happens in the future. It was a great promo and it lasted a lot longer than I thought it ever would.

It seems to me the best deal probably is to book a moderate now. That's how I'd be trying to crunch the numbers.

I'm more upset about the 2 day park ticket requirement. That really messes it up for AP holders. Buying a $80.00 one day ticket wasn't that bad, but $160.00/ticket for everyone:scared1: almost cancels the discount out. I know those two day tickets can be used later to renew the AP, but most of us already have a bunch of one day tickets laying around that we've had to buy for other deals.

This is the part that I don't like either!

This should relieve some of the pressure on, and insanity at, the table service restaurants during the promotion anway.

I hope it doesn't make too much of an impact though....those servers that have been working the FD for years past might be used to those tips. It's Disney though and always someone wanting to eat somewhere LOL....so maybe the walk ups will make up the difference.

We can't do moderate with six - the cabins but I'd hate to have 1 bathroom and it's too expensive for 2 rooms. How much are the mugs to fill and refill?

When you get your mug it's free to fill and refill.....for your whole trip :)

We are a family of 6 and we always get two connecting rooms at a value. That's about $164.00 per night in value season. The cabins are about $250.00 per night and don't have the second bathroom, so we dont' stay there.

You're kidding - that's wonderful! Even in the parks? That will be a savings in August!

We loved the QSDP for the same reasons others posted. And we used 1 snack credit for breakfast, bagels and cereals were snacks. We paid out of pocket for 1 table service meal and will probably do the same next year when we go back. It was great. This time we would like to be more adventurous and creative with our QS meals.

The mugs are only good at your hotel-not the parks-sorry.

I am totally bummed about not only the QSDP change but add that to the rumored overall plan changes for 2011 and I am traumatized. Luckily I read the rumors about the qs/value change so I booked the BB last year so this year is status quo for us but next year I am very undecided where we will vacation. Between the upgrade cost and all the things that keep dropping off the plan (in case you haven't read the thread mugs and desserts seem to be coming off both QS and reg dp next year) I am feeling a little bitter about giving disney my vacation fund-I am seriously considering heading to the beach instead-only thing is the weather is always a little iffy and peak season in almost impossible between available vacation time and cost. I am trying to do all my research prior to my Sept trip to know weather or not to look for the BB.

I know some are thrilled with the QS but for me as the house cook part of the fun of vacay is the sit down dinners.

For us...2 adults and our kids (ages 11 and 8) booking a moderate over a value and upgrade to RDP would cost us $500 more.

I hadn't read any of that yet....but see a mention of it on other threads here and there. I hate to hear of the changes...and we will also be looking for other arrangements if they keep taking things away all the while raising prices. We are already spending way more, even with QSDP then we would for a beach trip, or a trip off site in Orlando.....so I can't imagine paying more for less.

I understand what you mean about being the house cook too LOL We homeschool so I'm at home 24/7 and I cook all the meals.....I'm the breakfast lady, the lunch lady and then a mom and wife who also cooks for supper....so vacation is very much a time when I do not want to do any cleaning, cooking...etc.

I'm not bummed or traumatized, but I have been disappointed with the reductions that have occurred since we started going to WDW four years ago. Now that we are five Disney adults, it just isn't doable anymore.

We last went in Nov of '08, and may go one day before a Carnival cruise in Oct. We do have our Give a Day voucher.

I have never paid for DDP, so I can't complain. If it was just me, I would love the QSP, but we are bringing someone for the first time and want to do all the fun restaurants. We booked the BB offer, but we should have booked 3 rooms instead of 2, because now, my son has to decide if he wants to lose his DDP and be on a ressie with his gf in another room and pay to upgrade from QSD
my biggest issue now is airfare, I'm having a terrible time getting anything affordable.

No. It is only good at your resort.

This is true for soda/etc, but you CAN take your Mug into the Parks and use it for water. I did it several times every day, and never had any issues, I just got in line and asked for ice. Sometimes the CMs would give me water, too, or I'd take the cup of ice over to a drinking fountain and fill it up. I don't mind drinking tap water, it tastes cold and wet when I'm hot and dry and that's all that matters to me :).

This year I think I'm going to take my Thermos Intak bottle, though, because the mug would spill a little too easily.

I don't quite see why the 2 day base ticket is a deal breaker for Annual Pass Holders. We have annual passes this year and are trying to decide if we should renew after July. We have booked Free Dining at Pop and upgraded to the regular dining plan. We can use the 2 day tickets towards our purchase of the Annual Pass. So, what's the big deal? :confused3 I pay $160 per person for the 2 day base tickets (and can put that on my Disney Chase Visa and pay it off over 6 months) and then pay $160 less for my annual pass when I renew (which is due all at once).

Seems like a good way to go to me. Especially if you are going to renew your AP anyway.

Eric

I was kind of bummed at first but now I'm kind of excited about trying something different. And we LOVE the snacks! We may/may not try for a character breakfast at least to get the Disney spirit going but that would still be a lot less than paying the upgrade plus all the tips.:confused3
