Anyone else disappointed with Mission: Space?

We just rode Mission: Space this past Wednesday and I was kinda disappointed with this ride. I (and all of us ranging in ages from 8 to 58) just didn't seem to feel the huge sensation everyone was talking about. I was actually expecting to get sick on this ride...esp cuz I have problems with the Star Tours simulator. When we got off this ride a few people were talking saying that they had to 'tone it down' cuz too many people were getting sick....is this true? Did I miss the real experience this ride had to offer? It was okay but I wouldn't stand in line more than 20 mins for this ride.

I rode Mission Space back in December and it was everything people had hyped it up to be! There were barf bags inside the capsule just incase anyone needed them.

When was this attraction "toned down?" If it was toned down before I rode it, then I'd say it's still a great thrill ride!

I rode it for the first time last Saturday. I was OK for the launch part and the ride to Mars. I started to get a little queezy when it started weaving. I was glad when it was over. I was a little disoriented for about 2 hours afterwards. I experienced it, I don't think I would ride it again. We had fastpasses with about a 45 minute later return time.

We rode in December. The first time, I wasn't impressed - too afraid I'd get sick. I rode it a second time and loved it with no worries!

I've never mentioned this to anyone, but yes, I was a little disappointed with the experience.

The entire attraction was done really well, and the pre-show que area was very cool.

But with all the hype, I was really looking for some serious G-forces. For me, the beginning of "Aerosmith" is more of a rush!

Mom & I rode it in early December with no problems, but with all the warning signs and hype I expected it to be a little "rougher". I guess for those of us that aren't subject to motion sickness, it seems a little "tame", but still a good and interesting ride. For those that are subject to motion sickness, they make think it was "too much" even if it remained stationary

It, to me, is a very good ride...I was amazed at how smoothly it actually revolves. I had no sensation of "real" lateral movement, only some G-Forces that blended perectly to the screen. I'm looking forward to trying it again in June.

We rode it as well and enjoyed it. My daughter did not do much afterwards and went I got off my wife told me someone had just gotten off and could barely walk after riding it, also the ride was closed because someone on our ride got sick and they had to clean it. I thought it was good but thought it would be a little longer.

Ha ha, it sounds like you were dissapointed you didn't get sick Just kidding -- interesting to see the different responses. Do you think they "tweak" the ride every once in a while? Maybe they have made it less intense?

I didn't feel a thing the first time either, second time I made my first visit to First Aid Station. Neither DH or I will ride this again. I"m wondering how many other people feel the same way.

I'm looking forward to trying this ride out for the first time in June but am a little aprehensive about it. I usually don't get motion sickness. However, I did get sick on Alladin's Magic Carpet Ride in DQ and once when I rode the Mad Tea Party with my DH (he spins the ride out of control). This ride normally doesn't bother me with the spinning, but he goes crazy, so I refuse to ride with him on this one anymore. On Alladin's Magic Carpet, I made the mistake of looking to my side, and I think that might have made me quesy.

That being said, do you think I might get sick on this ride? I love all kinds of thrill rides, from RNR, TT, etc. The similator rides don't bother me either like, Star Tours or Body Wars either. I want to try it but I don't want to get sick either.

As to the topic of them "toning down" the ride, my wife and I rode Mission:Space last July when they were having pre-trial runs. We rode it again this April and everything was exactly the same except for the the entrance not being barricaded and the inclusion of the barf bags. We both enjoyed the ride both times and look forward to riding it again this July.

I didn't get sick but I certainly felt sick after doing this as well. I won't do that again. I wonder if MS is like this...I hope not....can anyone compare the two?

We rode it in Jan. and had no problems with sickness, but I wasn't too impressed overall. I loved the launch but then it kind of dwindled off for me. We rode alone (just DH and I) because the couple who was to ride with us bailed out at the last minute.

This alleviated my biggest fear: getting barfed on by someone else. I was never afraid of getting sick myself or DH, but after all I'd heard about this ride I was afraid that our cabin mates would ack and not be fast enough to use the barf bags. So now that I have ridden it alone, without fear of superfilous barfing, I don't think I'll do it again when we go next week. It just doesn't get any better for me.

I guess I should clarify.....I didn't get sick either, but I sure felt quesy for the rest of the afternoon. Had to go back to our room to lie down. We were going to MVMCP that night and I hoped to feel better by then, which I did. BTW I it was during MVMCP of the previous year that I rode Mad Tea Party with my DH and I was ill for most of the evening afterwards, and I didn't want to spoil MVMCP the 2nd time around being sick from Alladin's ride.

My fiance and I rode it 3 times in a row last Aug. It was a great ride but it would have been cool to have seen it a little more intense. We didn't feel sick or disoriented at all but we love thrill rides. However I do understand that it can't be too intense or fewer people would ride it.

and I'll admit it openly. We were there in June and I chickened out. My DH rode it - he thought it was fantastic. He does get motion sick easily but said he had no problem with the ride.

I'm ashamed that I chickened out - but I get another chance because we're going again 7/6.

It's a funny thing. The first time I went on it I didn't get sick, but I didn't think that it was much fun. I thought "Tilt-a-Whirl with a built-in DVD player- yeah so?"

I went again two days later and this time I relaxed and let myself be caught up into the illusion and this time I felt like I was launched into space and landed on Mars. I played with all the switches and "steered" with the joystick. It was a totally different ride.

You know, I think if people didn't read all the horror stories on this board beforehand, they'd go and ride it and enjoy themself. We *think* too much about the rides because we talk about them so much =)

I wasn't disappointed... but I must admit it wasnt a thrill a minute... it wasnt intense, to me... Just the takeoff, which is very cool. After that, it wasn't really exciting... I guess thats why I continue to be amazed that people are scared of it, refuse to ride, and get sick. Just didn't seem like a big deal to me... and I"m the biggest baby in the world. I won't ride coasters or anything... but this just wasnt that big of a deal, certainly nothing to write home about. I suppose some people can't handle much as far as rides... you don't KNOW you're spinning. During soft openings, I didn't even know what the ride did until I got off and examined it closer... that's when I figured out the sensation was achieved by spinning. Its NOTHING like the teacups or such.

I rode during the soft openings last summer. Its on a highlight trip this time, because DH hasn't ridden it. We've all been on it, enjoyed it, but again, nothing to get overly excited about.

I think everyone should give it one shot and THEN decide how they feel about it.

I figured that after all the money and time they put into this ride--it would be as good if not better than RRRC, but that was not the case. I liked Horizons better--at least that was a ride the whole family could experience.
