anyone else considering dropping the park-hopping feature?

We will be getting them because of the change. Rope drop, swim, FPs and dinner at afternoon park. Will make things easier for us.

We usually get PAP, we rarely go to multiple parks in one day. For our next trip, we are getting basic tickets without PH option. With all of the prices of everything going up slowly more and more, we need to find a way to save a little money.

We will still be buying hoppers, purely for food purposes. I always hop to Epcot to eat lunch or dinner. They have the best, and more diverse, options of anywhere in WDW. Give me the shwarma platter at Tangierine Cafe over MK or Resort CS burgers, every day of the week! :thumbsup2
We are staying at either GF or Poly because we love the food there so much. We do ok with lunches at liberty tree, BOG or columbia harbour house. dinner at resorts and of course, epcot days are easy to find good food!

that's the thing....... I'm dealing with shorter park hours, the pain of hopping with twins plus young kids. Mentally, this trip will just be "smoother" if we only have to deal with one park per day. If we can't do certain evening events, that's ok. we can see the lights on the lagoon or wishes from our resort. We have 3 nights to try and catch the electrical parade at MK, depending on what night they all have the most energy. Illumintions and/or fantastmic will be the most difficult to work in with the twins . we may just split up those nights and only do them with the older kids.

The savings from the park hoppers will likely be used in snacks for the standby lines anyway:rotfl2:

We always get the PH option, but we usually stay at BCV so we can walk into Epcot at night. I am not sure that PH is absolutely necessary. On AK days, you could plan a nice dinner at a resort or DTD and not have to worry about spending so much time.

I know that they are eventually going to take out the FP- machines, but they were handing out FP- to Toy Story Mania for 10:15 p.m. at 9:30 a.m. when we were there at Christmas. Not sure how beneficial PH would have been on those days because we ended up coming back to DHS to use those FP- at night.

I'm strongly considering hoppers for our next trip. I am determined to find a way to stay at an Epcot resort. Eating dinner most nights, and maybe catching Illuminations, at Epcot will be a priority. There's something about being in Epcot when the big torches are lit that makes it magical for me!

It's so awesome over there especially at night. Even if you can swing a stay over there for a few nights as part of a longer split stay!

We have never hopped in the past - with kids. But this visit, we plan to have them for a few reasons.

1. No kids - we can go out again late if we want to (after Animal Kingdom closes, for example).

2. We are staying at the Beach Club. Easy switch from Epcot or HS.

3. We are staying only six days - instead of seven or eight. Want to 'hit' more.

4. Going over Star Wars weekend. We want to go, but if it's too busy or crazy, we can easily switch.

5. We are taking advantage of not being with our serious allergy - and hitting more than a few coconut and tree nut filled restaurants - none of which are at Magic Kingdom or HS. We plan to jump out to a new park for a meal.

FWIW, our twins are 10 and I still don't hop with them! We just do 3 or 4 hours, lunch, then resort room for "AC break," then pool until dinner/marshmallow roast/movie under stars.

Every family's touring style is different. I guess we go often enough that we don't even try to fit in everything - I'm surprised to have kids who don't mind waiting to do some rides until the next trip.

So, no, I can't imagine with 4 little ones bothering to pay for hopping.

If our vacation is at busy time of year we don't PH . If it is a less busy time then we usually do because lines are so much shorter that we get done with what we want to do quicker. We can also do 2-3 ADR's at EC . When DD's were very young I believe we hopped all the time because naps took place anyway so why not switch parks. FP+ is good for us now and I think it would have worked for us back in those days because we could reserve those 2nd park late pm rides.

We dropped hoppers long ago. We found that we were just as happy hitting rope drop and going in the evening to the same park as switching up parks.

The only time we add the hopper is if we are staying at one of the Epcot resorts, because then we usually walk over to the park each night through the back gateway for dinner in one of the countries.

We always have hoppers and hop almost every day. This does irritate me because it's made things a bit more difficult for some of our days but our evening park is usually more relaxed and includes dinner and shows and soaking up atmosphere. Not always, but often. So although I dislike the loss of flexibility, by bucking the trend and making our FP selections primarily for our first park of the day, it is still workable for us.
