I purchased MYW Hopper with Plus Pack tickets. Then when we got to Disney. I didn't hop one day. The park we entered in the morning was the park we stayed in all day. I changed a lot of PS at the last minute because I didn't want to change parks we really enjoyed the park we were in at the time.

I feel like I wasted my money on the hopper feature. So for you upcoming trip I only purchase MYW Base ticket with Plus Pack feature no hopping.

Anyone else not hop? Did you feel like you missed out on something? I have until May to add the hop feature back on so sound off. Thanks DISers in advance for you continue assistance.

Big hugs :grouphug: and kisses :love2: !!!

I don't hop every day! I do when I am going to Disney/MGM or AK because it can go there in the daytime and hit MK or Epcot at night. Or I might get the urge to go to MGM for Fantasmic in the evening. I just like having the flexability. Same reason why I rent a car when I go.

If you know that you don't do that, then don't get the park hoppers. It all comes down to personal needs and desires.

OH, MY!!! Would you look at the countdown now! It's actually 3 days less than that because I had to move my departure time up.

:mickeybar :earboy2: :3dglasses  :teeth:

On our trip last month I got 6 day base MYW tickets (no hopping) for less than I was going to pay for 4 day PHs. It worked out great and we felt it actually created a more relaxing vacation for us, especially with the addition of the nighttime EMH hours. We'll go that route from now on. :wizard:

I have a question about the Park Hopper feature. I understand that this allows us to go to more than one park each day, but if we don't get it, does it also mean that we can only go to one park once?

For instance, if we don't get the Park Hopper feature, can we go to Magic Kingdom on a Sunday, and then again on a Wednesday? We would obviously not be able to go to any other parks those days, but just curious if without this feature, the tickets also limit us to one visit per park?

TIA!

Linda

We park hopped , during our very first trip to Disney. Actually we like to enjoy one park a day, we don't like hopping, seems like it takes up too much time and energy, i would just rather stay in one park per day.

YES!!! You can go to the same park every day if you want. You can't do two different parks on the same day without the hopping option.!! :goodvibes

This is exactly why I keep telling people that if they're unsure if they're going to hop, to just buy the base because you can add hopping while you're there if you find out you need it. There are people who know that they love to hop so it's not an issue for them, but for those who ask "should I buy the hopping feature"...wait until you get there and decide if you really need it !

:earsboy:

I've been going back and forth on whether or not to add the hopper option as well. There are 3 of us so it would be a little over $100. We've usually always had the option to hop even though we didn't always take advantage of it. The few times we've just gone for one or two days and didn't have hopper passes I hated that I felt tied to one park. We're going for 7 days so I'm thinking at least one or two of those day's I'll want to split my time between two parks...and I like the option of hopping to EC or MK to take in fireworks.

I think for us it's boiled down to is it worth the $100 to know that we have the flixibilty to hop if we want to knowing that we might not take advantage of it...

LOL, I'm sure that's what the Ticket Imagineers were banking on when they dreamed up the MYW tickets... :magnify:

I am planning a trip for next spring and am taking my Neice and Nephew. We are staying 7 nights, but don't want to do the parks everyday.

I am wanting to watch my costs in some areas. The only thing is the more days the cheaper it is.

We did park hop before because we could. Although this trip my DD will be 8 and Neice and Nephew will be 14 and 10. We may be able to just last all day at one park.

I may get the 7 day base tickets for DD and I and then add the no expiration to the last 3 days before our trip is over, but for the other two I was thinking a 4 day base pass. It would only be $333 for both of them and that is not too bad!

There are so many choices that it is hard to know?? :confused3
Atleast you do have the options to add as you go.

I want to buy Neice and Nephews pass asap and then I am giving them at Christmas time so that they know this is real and that they are really going to WDW!! :earboy2: They are good till you activate them and then they expire in 14 days...RIGHT????

How do you add the park hopper feature? If I buy the base tix ahead of time & decide I want to add park hopping once we are there - how do we do it? Can we even do it in the middle of the trip? Also - do you pay for the park hopping add-on for unused days only - OR - do you pay for the park hopping add-on for the entire ticket (even days you have already used & didn't park hop)?

From what I understand you can add anything up till the ticket expires and I assume if we have 3 days left we can add the no expire rate to just those 3 days. I believe it is based per day on each ticket?? Probably the same goes for hopping. I guess we could call Disney and ask??

They really are giving people more reasonable options. I wasn't too sure at first, but it is all starting to make sense.

You can add hopping, etc by going to guest services at any time before it expires, but you pay for the length of the ticket-not what's left on it. The thing is, if you buy it beforehand, you're still going to pay for the length of the ticket and if you don't use it you're out the money. I just think if you're unsure that you'll want/need to hop, it doesn't hurt to wait and see.

The only day we would park hop is the day we do AK because they close early. There is enough to do at each park that hopping is not required. Especially for those on their first trips.

We go often, but 99% of the time we do not hop. I have an AP and still rarely hop.

I think park hopping is a misnomer because it leads people to believe it is easier to hop than it actually is. You will spend at least 30 minutes to an hour traveling from the inside of one park to the inside of another. (Bus, boats, pov etc.)

Unfortunately, this is NOT the way it goes. If you buy a 10 day pass and you've used 7 and you want to add the no-expiration feature you have to buy them as if you had a 10-day not only for the 3 remaining days. I don't know whether it is true for the PH or Plusses but I've read about this several times about the no-expiration updates. HTH :teeth:

I called Disney to verify and you will pay the expiration add on for the entire pass and not the days you have left. So I guess I will decide what to do at when I buy the tickets.

They don't base it on days left....bummer... :guilty:

I think it's worth the money to have the option to hop, even if I don't do it every day. I'm going down with DS in a couple of weeks for a short trip. We have one day planned at MGM and a day at MK. We'll likely take an afternoon break both days. We'll probably decide the afternoon of the MGM day whether we want to go back and see Fantasmic or go over to Epcot for Illuminations in the evening. Even though I may not use the hopping feature, I like to have the flexibility.

It is, as other people have said, a personal decision depending on whether the extra $$$ are worth it to you.
