Anyone else bummed?

I had spoken to a CM a few months ago that had told me that nothing was final, but there should be dates coming out for December (when our flights and WDW stay is booked). I have been keeping my eyes open and waiting. When they came out last week, I was a bit bummed. The dates are for 9/28/2008-11/25/2008, 11/29/2008-12/3/2008, and 12/13/2008-12/23/2008. Of course we're going 12/7/13-12/13/2008. We picked that date becuase I found in more than one place that is one of the least crowded months in December, so you would think they would offer a special to try to get people there. Although I'm bummed that we can't save a little...we're going to Disney and that is the best.

Pop Warner week is December 7-13, 2008 this year. That's why there isn't a discount. If you're staying in a value resort you might want to reconsider your plans. From what I understand from reading on this board (and others) they kind of take over the value resorts during that week. From what I've read the other resorts really aren't affected.

Yes, I too would love to get more than the AAA discount on my room at the CR. I feel very blessed to have found the FL resident code for my MIL for 6 out of our 9 nights. I would love to have been blessed with a 30 or 40% off deal, for her....and for us too, but more for her.

I never have understood the whole concept of booking and praying, which sometimes leads to cancellation. If the rooms are booked, there will be no codes. Disney isn't going to offer a deal that it doesn't have to offer to fill up rooms that are already filled.

If anything, I think the internet has made codes more scarce because people book this way.

Gotta agree with you on this one. If the rooms show in the system as "booked", there is no reason for Disney to drop prices to "fill" the place...basic Econ 101 on supply and demand.

Oh boy...I should have known better than to post this topic. I was just saying that I was hoping that a code would come out, but we missed it again this year. Nothing more...not that I think Disney is expensive and I'm not willing to pay a value resort price. Thanks.

Hi Disneynutinpa, I understand what you are saying. We booked our dates during what was always a slow time in the past when we visited (12/4 to 12/15). We are AP holders. We were lucky enough to snag AAA when we booked last March for our nights at the CR . No such luck at AKL where we are paying rack rates. I called as soon as discounts came out and nada. It sure would have been wonderful if we could have snagged a discount because Disney is expensive. And like you, I am not cancelling or changing where I am staying. If fact, we have already paid for our rooms. I am not sure why Timon-n-Pumbaa Fan said 'never book a trip you are not content to pay for at the end' because you never said you were not willing to pay for what you booked. You just said you were a little bummed that you couldn't snag a discount code like many others have. I am with you. I too would have been very happy to have been able to find an AP or some other discount for our nights at AKL. It looks like we will be there at the same time you are. Are you going to MVMCP? The discount code doesn't seem to be helping me out at all. My trip is during Thanksgiving so only four days of my trip fall into the discount period. I booked through AAA last August. I received the AAA 10% discount on my room. I called my travel agent and asked her to see if the code would save me any money. After crunching the numbers, it doe not appear to help me out.

I did the hit miss AP rate thing also! I was booked with my airfare for Dec 8th - 15th. I opted to take the AP ressies at the AKL for the 15th-22nd. I change my airfare for 70 bucks but save over 500 on the resort! I have been missing all year! Always seems one week off to!

Glad you could cash in on AP rates. We looked at changing our airfare but it would have cost us alot more then $70. Have a great trip!!!

Okay, I am booked from the 8th through the 16th, and although I didn't get the 99 rate at POFQ for the entire time, I did get 119 for part and 99 for the rest. So it was quite a savings over rack rate of 149. This was the AP rate. Sometimes you just have to try.

Problem solved on our end. I did the same as KilimanjaroSafaris. We switched to the previous week and are now going from Nov.30-Dec.6. We went from All-Star Sports to CBR for $30 more. What a deal with the DHZ code. Not sure how much it cost to switch flights becuase DH did it, but wasn't that much. Perhaps we'll try All-Stars another year. I do love CBR.

We're staying at the Boardwalk starting Nov28 - Dec 6th. Does anyone know if there is a code available? That would be awesome, but either way we are staying there.

Good for you! You'll most likely have a better trip anyway. I know I wouldn't want to be at a value resort during Pop Warner week.

I think that week is also Mousefest which also helps fill the resorts. I've stayed a few nights in a value resort in the past during Pop Warner week and never had a problem. The kids were all really upbeat and excited about their games and were up early and back late after playing football all day long. I'm glad the OP could switch dates. It's always a bummer to find out a great rate is available...but not for your timeframe. As to booking in advance with the hope of a code, there was alot of discussion about that for FD this year. People gave advice for no one to book with the hopes of changing their ressie to FD as it would look like resorts were booked ( and thus no code released), but it worked for many and didn't seem to inhibit the FD code availability that came out in the spring. Most people always hope for a code even if they are prepared to pay rack rate- who wouldn't?---Kathy
