Anyone else been stung by a bee/bug in WDW?

We had a great vacation Nov 1 - 7th but I did get stung by some sort of bug at the AKV Kidani pool during the middle of our trip on my right arm. I went to Centre Care the next evening since the bite had gotten more red and swollen.

I don't think it was a bee, it looked more like a dragonfly and it was yellowish, but it most definitely had a stinger. It's been over a week and i've stopped taking the steroid medication but the site itself still is tender. Anyone else ever been stung on vacation? Did you have a bad reaction?

I had a terrible allergic reaction to a biting fly (yellow fly) that I encountered at the beach on the way to Disney a few years ago. I, too, ended up at Centra Care and got a dose of steroids and antibiotics.

Aghhh I got stung by a sand bee/wasp at the polynesian!!! We were sitting in a hammock on the beach digging our toes into the sand and all of sudden I had horrible shooting pains up my leg. It was horrid! I ran to the water and DH had no clue what was going on.. I had no idea what to do or what was happening! We get back to the room.. my 2nd to last toe was the size of a cucumber (width wise) and a stinger about 3cm-4cm long stuck in the inside of my toe.. black, yellow and white striped!

Future reference: dont dig your toes in the beach @ the poly!

DD was stung by a bee at the Animal Kingdom a few years ago. We were on the walkway near Pizzafari and a bee flew around her and she swatted at it and got stung on the finger. A security guard happened to be walking by at the time and escorted us to first aid immediately. They put ice on it and watched her for a few minutes to make sure she didn't have an allergic reaction to it.

She was such a trooper though. We have a photo of her and Pluto a few minutes after we left First Aid and she is trying to smile through her tears.

I was stung at Magic Kingdom by the castle on our last trip. I have no idea what it was, but it swelled and burned something horrible. I went to first aid and they gave me some sort of cream to put on it and an ice pak.

My DS5 was stung by a black wasp near Ghirardelli's at DTD. It was flying around one of the potted plants, then came over to his ice cream. He tried to shoo it away, but it stung him immediately. Ran over to first aid, which was miraculously nearbly. He was fine after ice was applied.

We do have some strange bugs. I can't think of what looks like a dragon fly and stings, because they don't. I know we have some wicked horse and deer flies. they bite, and can be extremely painful. I hate bugs. But I love dragon flies, they eat mosquitoes. We have lots of those too.

i was bit by spiders (at least i think it was spider bites) while standing on the dock at WL. We went in dec, during a heat wave in florida. The swelling was so bad that I couldn't put shoes on, so getting off the plane at JFK, in the snow, in flip flops wasn't so fun.

DD14 was bit in August of 2009 in Epcot, right near the bridge near France/UK. Was bit on her back/shoulder blade and it was huge and red and swollen. It took about an hour or so before she was able to deal with the pain and she's really good with pain, but she cried and cried. It was horrible.

I stepped on a bee at Typhoon Lagoon. The darn thing was in the sand and I never saw it. It hurt like something fierce and I can only imagine what I looked like jumping on one foot hooting and hollering! I was really worried because it was only the second day of our ten day trip and I was envisioning pain for the rest of our vacation since the sting was on the bottom of my foot. After checking for the stinger, I hobbled into the wave pool for about an hour and honestly, that was probably the best thing for it. It was sore the rest of the day but by the next morning I was good to go!!

I was stung by a bee in the AKL pool a few years ago...the bee flew at my chest towards the water (pervert bee)...and got me right down the top of my bathing suit. It was sore for a day or so, but that was it.

When she was five my daughter was stung by a bee right in the middle of Fantasyland. It got her on the upper lip. It was her first sting and she got almost hysterical. Fortunately my husband noticed a place that sold frozen lemonade which distracted her and got something cold on the sting right away. And the Queen of Hearts walked by and distracted her even more.

I didn't have any children's Tylenol with me so we ended up walking over to first aid where the nurse happily dosed her up for us. She offered us more ice but fortunately since the stinger didn't go all the way in, the swelling was minimal.

The yellow flies are terrible. This isn't really the time of year for them to be out. When they bite, it is quite painful. The bite swells an in some cases weeps. It takes a couple of weeks for it to go away.

Dragonflies don't sting.

I've never had any issues in Disney, but I got bit by a chigger visiting my cousin's house in Florda. They're not too far from Disney. That was nasty.
