Anyone else a "peacemaker" in the family?

Not even looking forward to tomorrow...we are eating at my brother's who is very laid back...my father and sister like to eat early (we always ate at 2 when my mom was here)...I do too, but I'm flexible, esp when someone else is doing all the work...but my brother said "I'll let you know in the morning what time to come, depends when I get the turkey in." SIGH....so now I 'll have to listen to my dad AND my sister complaining if we eat late and even DH was chiming in last night with "I"d rather eat early and not be out late." People, RELAX, just go with it, ok??? I'm stressed and sad enough with my mom not being here, I don't need this too. I wish I wasn't the "peacemaker" type who gets all stressed when others are upset about something. It has nothing to do with me and I"m not in charge of it, so why let it bother me?

My DD 15 is the peacemaker in our family, and among her friends. She has taught us ALL to grow up!

I used to make my brother and sister stop fighting when I was 6...they were 16 and 18!

I know what you mean. My dad needs to know "what time" for anything he is not in charge of. He's a sweet, wonderful man, but he is also a control freak. My sister is cooking dinner, and it won't be late, but she's a busy woman. She's got 2 kids, works part time, goes to school (getting her PhD in physical therapy) and she can't pinpoint the exact time. I feel the same way you do--relax & go with the flow, don't sweat it. I have to keep telling that to Dad (in nice terms). I think he's calm now....and I've convinced him to sleep over.

I'll drink to that! :drinking1 I'm ready to quit the holidays and stay home!

I am definitely the peacemaker. I think it has to do with being the middle child. My sister and brother always fought and I was in the middle trying to keep the peace and make them see each others side. We are all adults in our 30's and I am still doing this.

I wish I could have a drink with the rest of you, but it will have to wait a few months so have one for me :drinking1

That is EXACTLY me!! I am trying to be better about it-it's been a lifelong struggle.
I hope your holdiay ends up being happy!
