I have Celiac, my first trip to Disney after being diagnosed. Tossing up staying at POFQ or ASMovies. Any opinions? Thanks in advance

I haven't stayed at AsMu or POFQ GF, but I have stayed at several resorts GF and found the CS restaurants in each one to be fairly good. I have heard from other reviews that the Value resorts are even better at handling special dietary needs. I've heard a lot of really good things about Pop century over all of the value resorts, but haven't had the first hand experience with it. Good luck on making your choice :thumbsup2 WDW is my favorite place to go with food allergies--they are simply awesome!

Thanks for the reply. We have been to both ASMovies and POFQ and loved
them both. I have heard some good things at POP. It's just a hard choice. We usually don't eat too much at the resort, but I would like to stay where they are familiar with GF and have choices available. Hoping for some more opinions so we can decide whether to change our minds on which resort.
Thanks again:)

Sorry I couldn't give you a first hand report, but I'm sure you'll be able to find good service wherever you go. I will say that the resorts are much more suited than the CS in the parks. Good luck! :thumbsup2

That's okay. I'm not that worried cause I know I will be taken care of at Disney more than any other place. Just trying to make the best decision. Thanks again.

Let us know where you end up. I'd love to hear your report when you get back! :)

I'll let you know. Now my DH says he would like to try POP, so we may be switching to that. I will give you a report when we get back. Thanks.:)

I haven't stayed at any of the AS resorts but I have stayed multiple times at both POFQ and Pop. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at either of them again. Both were PHENOMINAL!!! Pop does have a MUCH greater selection than POFQ but the chefs at both were amazing. From everything I've read I wouldn't worry about staying at the AS resorts either. All of the chefs in Disney owned establishments are really well trained in food allergies including gluten (I just call celiac a gluten allergy when talking with chefs; it's easier even if it isn't medically accurate). The AS resorts have large and varied food courts from what I've read so they should have plenty of options for the chefs to make some wonderful foods just like the chefs at Pop (who incidentally keep spoiling us so much when we stay there that every time we stay at a higher end resort we keep wanting to go back to Pop just for the food). If the food court is a deciding factor for a resort, I'd go with Pop though I would keep the AS resorts in the running as well. If money is no object, I'd go back to Polynesian Club Level but you didn't ask about that.

we have stayed at ASM many many times and I have never had any issues in getting CF foods/ meals prepared.
I always let them know in advance when we will be staying and we normally only eat Breakfast in the food court. I get great service.

You have to tell someone though- ask to speak to a manager when you get there about food allergies. Sometimes CM's don't know what is GF or not or they don't know about allergies. So ask to speak to a manager in the food court.

Thanks for the info. I would like POFQ,we have been there before. We do like Movies also, but I have been hearing not such nice things, like it is looking shabby since they haven't refurbed it. So I think Movies is out. I talked to my DH and if we go to POP we can add on an extra night and do regular dining and still be less than POFQ. We are trying to cut the costs as much as possible and we do also have to add on airfare to that cost.

But thanks so much for the input. I think we might try POP bc we have never been there and it is newer. Glad to hear the chefs are good at all.:)

I'm not sure if it was Pop or AS it been at least 5 yrs, but my Mom has Celiac and the Chef was great, he asked my Mom what she liked and had food for her everyday. The Chef told her they like the challenge of making something different then the same old stuff day in and day out. Let them know what meals you will be eating there and there shouldn't be a problem. We will be staying at FQ in Nov and I'll be letting them know about the allergy there too.

Good Luck and have fun!
