Anyone eaten at The Wave?

We had dinner there August 12.

Food was good.

Our server was more interested in a tip than in being a genuine server, as she pulled an irritating trick with bottled water (we were on the DDP) we did not order to get her tip increased.

She also took and KEPT my KTTW card during the meal. When I asked her about it, she told me she'd give it to me at the end of the meal. I thought that was tacky and odd, as no other servers on the entire trip did that.

But that said, the food was really good. My fish was delicious. My son liked his shrimp and pasta. The kids meals are not the "typical" Disney kids meals. And, the desserts are excellent.

We were in the lounge area, we tried the soup and lettuce wraps, our friends had some other things. Everything was outstanding, we have dinner ressies there next week, can't wait. Nice wine list as well.

We ate at the Wave on Thursday 8/24. This was our arrival day, so I made the ADR for 9:00PM, our DME transfer to ASSp was fast (flight landed at MCO at 6PM) , so we were checked in and ready to take the bus to the MK and monorail to CO by 7:45PM.
We checked in at the podium at 8PM, they were busy, so we waited about 30 minutes to be seated. Since it was so late, we shared 1TS. DH wanted the Chicken Pot Pie, he also had a smoothie and we had the sorbet for dessert. The server was pleasant and we had no problems sharing. We left a cash tip and we enjoyed this restaurant.

We ate there on Aug 20th and it was delicious:woohoo: I had the tenderloin and my husband had the seafood linguine and we both absolutely loved our meals. My DS7 had the chicken nachos and they were great. My DS6 does not remember what he had, but I know he ate it all!! Service was great also. Enjoy;)

I would have demanded my card returned or asked to speak to a manager. Your KTTW is a credit card. I don't like mine to be out of my sight except for the end-of-meal swipe.

I'm curious. What was her explanation for this odd behavior?

She had no explanation. She just said she'd bring it back when we were done. I should have complained, I realize, but it was the last night of our trip, we'd had a great day at DHS (won Dream Fastpasses), and I didn't want to have an issue at our last dinner.

I did check the room charge when we checked out very carefully, and it was OK, so I'm pretty confident she didn't do anything. I just never had such treatment anywhere before.

Has anyone eaten at The Wave at Comtemporary Resort?

Your 1st Post! Congratulations and welcome!!!

My DW and I had dinner at The Wave in June. The food was very good. The theming seemed a bit minimal, but if you want a really great and detailed review you should check out Kevin's review on the DIS podcast. IMHO, it is definitely worth the trip. :thumbsup2

I see that The Wave has a bar inside- does anyone know if it's possible to just go in and get a drink at the bar without having dining reservations there? We would like to check out the restaurant to see what it looks like, and since we are staying at the Poly it would be easy for us to swing over there. We used to love the Outer Rim bar for a nice relaxing drink, so this seems like a good alternative now that it is closed

I definitely think this is possible. The bar is very large and when we were there it was mostly empty. I am certain that you would be welcome to go to the bar just for drinks. If you do, ask them about their "hidden Mickey". The CM in charge the night we were there told us that they were disappointed that they did not have one so they made their own. Hint: It is with the wine bottles. :)

Yes, as far as I have heard the Outer Rim has closed. I could be wrong though since I haven't been yet this year, but I know I read that a couple of different places. We loved that bar too and are sad to see it go!

I was just at the Contemporary from August 18-30 and I can confirm the Outer Rim is closed.

I was there this past week. The food was okay - not great, not terrible. The service that night was awful. The waitress said that her station had been changed, so she was sorry it took so long to get to me the first time. But she said she was coming back with bread, and the food arrived first - and I still had to ask for the bread. She was very slow, the whole dining room service seemed off that night (it is the only time I've eaten there).

The bread was just some slices of a cold multi grain type. The filet was just okay - nothing I'd remember. I liked the fingerling potatoes, but there were only 3 of them. Their desserts are mini-sized, with 3 on a plate. They were good, but not memorable.

I almost went back to Trails End instead, I sort of wish I would have. But at least I can say I tried The Wave.
