Anyone driving to Disney (from up North) or coming home from Disney going up North on I95 this Thursday/Friday or Saturday?

I will be flying in Monday but my DD and family will start their drive Sunday. If anyone is making the drive on I95 North or South, curious of your experience. They were/are debating if they should still go.

Any issues with traffic, no gas, etc.

Thank you so much in advance.

If they are starting their drive Sunday, they probably won’t be in Orlando until Monday night or Tuesday, correct? I don’t think they will have any issues. Florida is working hard to make sure there is fuel trucked in now, as close to the storm as possible. 95 should not have the same issues that 75 had yesterday with evacuation traffic and lower fuel levels at gas stations, since 95 is on the opposite side of the state. Outside of Florida, fuel supplies are normal. The hardest hit areas will have sporadic fuel shortages due to people using gas in generators, so it’s a good idea to fill your car prior to reaching those locations.

If they decide to make the trip, they should be fine through Jacksonville. Beyond that, I would just recommend making smaller but more frequent fuel stops (maybe top off at a half tank instead of waiting for a quarter tank) during the rest of the drive to Orlando. That is what I did driving up 75 yesterday and I did not come across any station that was out of fuel, even passing through where Helene devastated Florida and Georgia recently. The goal should be to arrive in Orlando with their tank as full as possible so they won’t have to worry about fueling up on arrival.

Thank you so much. Getting a little nervous. They plan on leaving Sunday late afternoon so my 21 month old grandson can sleep in the car all night. My dd and son-in-law will split the drive.

Great tip on making frequent stops to fill up and arriving with a full tank.

Hope you, your family and loved ones are all safe!!!!

Definitely need to stay on top of this one. FWIW, CNN is already reporting today that some 1,300 gas stations in Florida are out of gas due to many different factors associated with the impending hurricane. Good luck

Another suggestion. . . If they haven’t already, download the Gas Buddy app to help locate fuel.

I agree, although this does not surprise me since today is the last major prep day. With all the people affected along the western Gulf coast, plus Tampa, plus a swath of central Florida from one coast to the other, I am surprised it’s not more. I have been watching the continuous local news coverage today and they were trucking fuel in today and said they would do so until it was no longer safe to do so. That will return once the storm passes as well. If the OPs family is not arriving until late Monday or Tuesday, I would expect the situation to be much improved by then, although I would still recommend that they arrive in Orlando with as full a tank as possible if they decide to make the trip.

I think I wish she would stay home.- ........we have been watching the weather channel almost non-stop - so many people in it's path including family and friends and of course our trip is coming up.

Thank you.

I can understand why you feel that way, and there is no shame in postponing or canceling a trip. This is a bad storm. I have sheltered in place for hurricanes in the past, but this one spooked me enough to evacuate. When I went out to eat lunch today, the family at the table next to me had evacuated from Ocala. No one knows how bad it may really get until it actually gets here.

@fla4fun you just reminded me to send another message to an old neighbor of mine/friend - they live in Ocala.

When I talk to her again - tomorrow - I will mention if she would consider not going (we just cancelled April when my dh passed). Just not working out right now - it's all fine. Disney will always be there and we have gone plenty of times (DVC). I can still go - not worried about me - - even though I would be "alone" and first trip without my DH. I know she was looking forward to it. My grandson's first time. They have the opportunity again in April. There are bigger things to worry about right now - lives and property. Her/their decision in the end.

I am nervous for everyone - I can imagine everyone in Florida.:sad1:
