We are looking at going to Disney on one of the Star Wars weekends (my DH and DD9 are complete Star Wars fanatics). Anyone else been and have any good info/tips to share? I checked out wdwig and there's only like 1 paragraph about it and no list yet of what celebrities might be available for what dates.

Thanks in advance! :earsgirl:

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and have always wanted to get out to WDW for one of the weekends. I'm sure the official website www.starwars.com has some info on it too.

My DW and I went last year. The celebrities are in the parade then they have autograph signing sessions. I did not get any but I believe you need to sign up in order to stand in line for the autographs. The thing I liked were all the CM's dressed as the Star Wars characters. When you walk through the gate there are storm troopers on the ticket booths and several different characters from all the movies throughout the park. It was fun. :goodvibes

The celebrities came out in the middle of April last year so I am assuming the same time frame for this year. They are still adding people to Celebration III so it is possible that it won't be announced until around then. You can always check the Star Wars community page or here for the info. As soon as someone knows, that will be posted.

Has anyone gone to Who Wants to be a Millionaire during the weekends?

Apparently, it's a Star Wars Edition of the game. I was just wondering what the million dollar prize is?

I played it and did rather well when I tried. My DW was surprised I did so well. I wonder about the people that get called to the chair though. They wizzed right through the first few questions and won the small prizes but as soon as the big prizes were at stake the missed REALLY EASY questions...to the point that the audience groaned. I think they are CM's most of the time but I am scepticle (sp?) of alot of things. Who knows.

By the way...the second you see the right answer start hitting the appropriate button...if it is not A, B, or C then start hitting D after you see the C answer. That is they way I was answering so quickly

Can you think of an example of the high calibur questions: i.e. 32,000 or so?

Also, what did they give away for 1 million?

Thank you, QuickGold, for the link! Looks like exactly what I was looking for.

We went to Stars Wars weekend the last week of May 2003 as soon as my DW's summer break started from teaching. We were there 1 day of one weekend, so I was able to scope it out and was prepared for the following weekend so I could see more of the Star Wars activities. The Stormtroopers on top of the entry was great. If you get there before they let you in, it is kind of entertaining. I would like to go again for the SW weekends, but I like the non-busy times to go to WDW more.

We were there last year, and it was great! DH and I did the Star Wars Millionaire (usually the first two shows each day), and if memory serves me correctly, it's the same kinds of prizes as the regular play (pins, hats, tees--but Star Wars themed--and the Disney Cruise when you win 1 million points). I can't remember any of the questions off the top of my head, just that when it got to about 8,000 I didn't know the answers. DH ended up fourth on the listboard at the end of the session (he wouldn't share the answers). Oh, and they had Gammorean (sp?) Guards in the audience and kind of played them up. It was fun.
If you wanted to do any of the meet and greets, last year you had to get a fastpass to get autographs and/or pics with the celebrities. Last year they had Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Jake Lloyd (little Anakin Skywalker--who was not so little anymore), the actor who played Boba Fett (can't remember his name) and others I can't think of right now. The fastpass pick-up area for the meet & greet was at the Millionaire fastpass machines. The celebs also were in the parades, which made for better photo ops with no waiting.
They had a Jedi Training Academy near the Star Wars ride for the kiddos, and each hour 1 or 2 of them were picked to battle Darth Vader or Darth Maul!! It was neat to see some of these kiddos so excited to do them in!
HTH!!

I do remember one of the higher point questions from last year's WWTBAM. It was basically a quote from Episode 2 - basically it was the possession is forbidden, but compassion is encouraged speech. That one knocked someone out.

Basically they push you to the 1,000 pt question and let you fail from there, especially if the contestant is younger. They ask several times if they are SURE that it is their final answer and all but tell them to choose another one, but after that, there isn't too much compassion for those who don't know the movies

They give away a cruise at the end but also add on other prizes like subscription to Insider magazine and action figures. I do believe the winning question from 2 years ago was the cell number of Leia's prison cell. Not hard, but could get confusing with all the pressure if all the numbers look similar...

I definitely think the adult trivia contest is MUCH harder as it goes into non-multiple choice answers. This closes at about 20 people so it is a little more hard-core and the questions get a lot more involved.

Its Fri/Sat/Sun. It used to be that Fridays were a little less busy since a lot of locals came for the weekend AND Saturdays used to be the Early entry for MGM, but with the new EMH, I am betting that Sunday will see more people since that is the nighttime EMH, so more people may make that their Sunday park. Friday does get first shot at the merchandise which CAN sell out by Saturday.

DD and I will be there on May 22. Do I take your quote to mean that only SOME of the WWTBAM shows will be Star Wars and the rest will be the regular edition? Is that info posted in the Times & Info guide?

I'm dying to play now that I'm no longer a CM (and therefore eligible for the Hot Seat), but I don't think I can even begin to compete in the Star Wars edition.

Any hints for getting DD "enrolled" in the Jedi Academy?
