Luaus look like family social events. Anyone done any solo? I’m comfortable eating out, going to the movies, etc. alone, but still not sure about the luau. I’m considering the Aulani one or Paradise Cove since it’s walking distance but still not sure it’s really a solo activity.

I travel solo all the time and every luau I’ve done on the islands I’ve visited has been done solo. I try to do a different luau each time I visit. So far on Oahu, I’ve done the Paradise Cove and Aulani luaus. Paradise Cove was the first luau I ever did. Prior to Covid, you would be seated at a table with other people so being solo wasn’t an issue. I’m not sure how they seat now because the Feast of Lele on Maui, where you’re only seated with your party, was the last luau I did in December. Don‘t let the fact you’re solo keep you from doing what you want. Bring a book to read, participate in the luau activities, and enjoy the show!

I haven’t done one solo, but I think if you’re comfortable dining solo, this would not feel much different. If you think about the main portion is the actual performance which would not require much social interaction! I say if you want to go then absolutely do it!

I was there solo about 10 days ago. If you pay for preferred, you are pretty far back. It's just where they put the one person tables. Otherwise it was fine.

Good to know. I was thinking of the cheap ticket whichever place I go unless the USD crashes before then and it becomes cheaper for me. Otherwise it’s a pretty expensive evening but that’s Hawaii so I thought it might be a fun thing to do.
