Anyone doing the Wine & Dine Half Marathon??

Welcome to Cleveland, though I wish it were under better circumstances. If you are looking for a nice place to get an outdoor run in check out the Metroparks.

By the time I got this, I was getting ready to head back to Colorado. The weather was a bit brutal during my stay, so the treadmill did the trick.

I grew up in Lakewood, and my dad and I used to run in the Valley, as I knew it, but looking at the maps, it is the Rocky River Reservation North! Thanks for the link! It was very cool to see it!

I am officially registered for the 5K Halloween event as well. $99 was steep, but it takes care of my MNSSHP ticket too.

:cheer2: When you think of the cost of MNSSHP it isn't too bad.

I just registered for my first race of the season. I'm doing the Race to Wrigley (as in field...home of the Cubs) on April 24th! :yay:

I'm wondering how many other DISers will be doing MNSSHP on Oct 3rd as well?

Show of hands?

I am hoping there will be an AP discount night that same week, but if not, we may be there, too!!!

Just bought our tickets for the 3rd! Seriously, I wish this was happening next week....well, all except the run. Not quite ready for that part yet :rotfl:;)

I'm not running ...I'd pass out..... but I'd love to cheer all the dis'ers on since we'll be there. When and where are you guys running?
BTW, any other dis'ers doing MNSSHP 9/30?

Just in case anyone is lurking, sitting on the fence, or just wants to know:

the Half Marathon and Half Marathon Relay are both showing as being at 50% capacity.

I'm running my first 10k this Saturday. Once I have my official time, I'll be registering for the Wine & Dine Half. I've only been running (heck, exercising) for nine weeks, since the week we got back from WDW after enviously watching all the girls with their Princess Half Marathon medals.

Nine wees ago I couldn't run 60 seconds, and today I ran 6 miles in 1 hour and 2 minutes! :lmao:

Congrats, Amy!!!! It doesn't matter what your time is. The hardest part is crossing the starting line. (So I keep hearing/reading.)

wow! That's awesome progress! I'm looking forward to feeling comfortable doing 6 miles.

Wow! You are doing great! I walk, but I hope to see you at the WDW!

That is so right Todd. There is a saying on the WISH boards DLF > DNF > DNS (dead last finisher > did not finish > did not start). Even if you finish last you beat everyone that didn't bother to start.

Great Job!!!!

I started out the same. Had a baby in June, and was really looking for something that didn't have a class schedule attached and needed nothing more than a good pair of shoes, so running it was. I really started training for a 10k in late January and ran my first 10k race on Mothers Day and I LOVED IT!!!!! Knowing I have the relay with Mrs D coming up and running on the love of my first race, I have no where to go but up!

wow! That's awesome progress! I'm looking forward to feeling comfortable doing 6 miles.

You are soooooooo gonna be there! And it is such a great feeling when you get there:woohoo:

I just keep remembering the "free taste and sip" at the end...that will keep me going, too;)

This is from a thread about the Wine and Dine Half Marathon over on the WISH Board.

Just some early info on spectator tickets.

So being the nosy person I am and the overplanner :rotfl: I called Disney Sports to see what they would say. They told me to call 407 WDW IRun
which I did to see what they would say

The lady who I spoke with at this number told me that yes indeed when you register you should receive a code at that time (I wonder if they can verify some other way - should have asked that) and yes she had the tickets for sale over the phone at that phone number (I guess you need the code to buy - I am registering tonight...so not sure yet how that works) Also she said they are trying to get a link online to buy there as well, but don't have that up yet

She said that they are $35 per ticket

(Dang even more expenses adding up for this trip :sad2:) I know this is the inaugural race, but does anyone have any ideas how the party goes/how it is for spectators and such??

I double checked my receipt and couldn't find a code other than my confirmation code. I'll post more info as it becomes available.

Hi All!

I just signed up for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. I waited until after I finished a 10K this past weekend. This will be my second half (ran one about 5 years ago) but first Disney race!

I like the idea of a night race as I hate getting up early! :)

Would like to do MNSSHP on Thursday, 9/30, but DD might be joining me for the race and probably won't be there by then. So, we'll probably wait and do MNSSHP on Sunday, 10/3.

Also posted on the same thread as the other quote earlier:

It wasn't easy but I was able to buy the party ticket today!! :yay:

My son signed up for the Half several days ago and his confirmation email stated to call 407-WDW-IRUN to purchase the tickets. I called the number and was first told "sorry, we only book the sleeping rooms". So I read the paragraph from the email, the CM put me on hold (several times) and "oops, yes, we ARE selling the tickets!!" She asked for the password from the email and for my name, address, phone. (didn't need any information about the runner - my son and I have different last names, addresses and phone numbers.) She took my CC # ($35), gave me a confirmation # and said "bring that number and your picture ID to Will Call". All set! :thumbsup2

This obviously is a very new procedure so it may take a couple days before we all get the same answer, but here's the verbiage from the email:

"FINISH LINE PARTY TICKETS
Need to purchase tickets to the finish line party for your loyal spectators? Finish Line Party tickets can be added to your travel package or purchased separately when you call (407)WDW-IRUN."

:woohoo:

Looks like you just need the password/code from someone who has registered and a credit card.

I'm signed up for the 5k through the Magic Kingdom. I also bought the commerative 5k pin when I registered for the race.

I'm looking forward to running through the Magic Kingdom. Should be a lot of fun. Anybody else running the 5k?
