I just registered DH. I'll probably register myself in the next day or two. :scared:

I am so lost about planning the trip itself. DisneyWorld....not a problem as I am now familiar with the area after so many trips, but I have no idea what to expect with California!!!

Yea Terri!!! Glad you're joining us!!!!

6-time-momma- come on, go ahead & register, you wont regret it! Me & my mom will be coming out for the DL 1/2. Neither of us has been to DL but I know WDW backward & forward. We are staying at the Candy Cane Inn. (as are alot of WISHers) DLH & PP are already booked up. You might want to go ahead & book something. The 06 WDW 1/2 was my (and mom's) first ever. Watch out, its addictive, I'm also doing the Minnie marathon & a tri this year.

Come join us on our training thread. Its a great group & will keep you training. Are you brining your family? I am leaving DH & kids at home (feel a little guilty about that) because they have school & the only reason I can go is mom turned in ff miles to get us free tickets.

Well, we had talked about bringing the kids, but I think we're leaning towards going ourselves (and yup, feeling guilty). Our 17th anniversary is August 12 and we have never taken a trip by ourselves, so we thought about making it a "second honeymoon" of sorts.

Do you have a link to the training thread? I kind of skimmed, but must've missed it!

DH and I will be there! And I understand completely about being a little lost about DisneyLAND. I know the WORLD backwards and forwards, and am such a newbie on DL. I can't wait!

Susan and I are. Mom & Cathy are doing "sleep in patrol" ;) Or better yet.... "fetch and carry" afterwards for us :teeth:

We were crazy enough to sign up the day it opened back in October.

Now we're trying to figure out what we've gotta do while there, what we've gotta eat but at least we have the hotel settled :teeth: oh have to figure out what we gotta buy while there ;) geesh i'm sure the Expo alone will require another mortgage LOL

Mom picked up the 2006 Birnbaum DL and I'm waiting for the Passporter DL to be published which I hear could be in June, I believe they are taking advance orders but not sure.

Can't wait but am nervous about the unknown.

Either way it's going to be an amazing weekend!!!! Only Susan and Cathy have been to DL before out of our smal group so it's going to be tons of fun.

And it is very addictive. Susan and I didn't finish in 2005, we signed up for the Half as a lark and didn't train at all. Made it to like 8.5 miles. Got on the bus and wanted to start all over again, I made the decision before we were even back to the resort to sign up for 2006 and train more. Learned more in 2006, trained more and finished but found I could have trained better and now am signed up again with hopes of a faster time for both DL and WDW LOL We hope to do the Full in 2008 with jokes about us doing the Goofy in 2009 now it's most likely a possiblity since the half started out as us joking about needing those medals.

We now sit and watch the weather hoping and praying that it will be warm enough for us to get out and get a run in. We HATE the cold LOL Anything over 40 and no rain/snow is fair game for us a year ago we wouldn't have gone out in anything colder than 60. The drive home tonight in the upper 30's had me edgy wanting to run because the car was toasty.

You WILL become addicted but you'll love it. It's the best. Besides the jewelry is unbelieveable ;)

Dh is running the DL half. He wants me to run with him - but I am doing my first ever race (the Minnie) and I don't feel confident that I can do a half yet. I will be the official photographer and cheerleader for DH! :cheer2:

I really, really need to book that hotel NOW! I didn't know resorts were selling out!

6 Time Momma - I love Disneyland! It is much different than WDW, but a good different. Definately try to have a meal at the Blue Bayou. We have done that each time we've been to DL. I also think the Indiana Jones ride is the best Disney ride out there - they really need to put it in FL! Also, we stay offsite, since those hotels are within walking distance to DL. Last time we were at the Fairfield and it was just ok. But then again, we are hardly ever in our room. I might try the Candy Cane this time if there is availability left.

Yes- you all should stay at the Candy Cane Inn! The more DISers the merrier!!! I have been researching (as all good DISers do :teeth: ) and have read only good things about the Candy Cane on both the DL DIS board and Tripadvisor. We're going to have a WISH pool party :cool1:

I dont know how to post a link for the thread but on the events page it is called WK of xxxx walking/running club. It is updated with a new thread every week. They got me thru training for the 1/2 & are keeping me going for my other training. This is a very new thing for me, but I like it!!

Good luck & cant wait to see everyone in Cali :woohoo:

When I last checked, the Candy Cane Inn was full. :( I'll check and see if there are any cancellations. I MUST crash that pool party! :hyper:

DH and I are doing it too! Very excited as we have never been to the west coast. We are staying at the Candy Cane Inn and looking forward to a great WISH meet.

I'm in - also at the Candy Cane. Been to California about 4 times, most recently 2 hours at DD at Xmas on the way through LA to Orlando just to get my fix - but realised we havent actually been to DL for at least 4 years so that'll be exciting again, we only went to CA last time - and even that's got loads of new stuff since then. I do love the way they describe the course on this one 'alongside the Santa Ana River' I'm thinking, 'there's a river?' then I read - as seen in Terminator and Grease - oh, the big concrete overflow canals!!!!! Although I must admit, having my photo taken at 'Thunder Road' is a must!!!!! Helen

What's the Thunder Road? Is this on the DL Course? Gonna look over the course again tonight. I admit I haven't spent much time looking at it. We get to go by the Duck Pond right? As in the NHL Ducks?

Gotta eat!

We're at the DL Hotel. with all this talk of sold out resorts i'm now panicking even though we have a reservation. LOL I'm going to be freaking out until I'm unpacking in the room :rotfl: Yeah, I'm a relaxed traveler type ;)

Thunder road was the place where they had the car race at the end of Grease. You know where Sandy decides she doesn't want to have a bob or nice clean lungs any more - it's filmed in the big concrete overflow canals that line LA and ew're gonna run past one. Should anyone need to recognise me during the race, I'll be the one standing there singing - 'Sandy, you must start anew, you don't you know what you must do, hold your head high, take a deep breath and cry - Goodbye to Sandra Dee.' Sorry got over emotional there!

I am 99.9 % sure that I'm going to run this marathon.

Duelly noted, singing woman will be littlegreydonkey :thumbsup2 I'll be the one day dreaming of all the good food and sweets AFTER the race ;) You'll find me at the Dole Whip counter saying "hit me again Sam!" LOL

Come on Kim! You have to join us! :cheer2: We missed you at WDW this year.

I signed up the first day registration opened. I am staying at the Hyatt, but I plan to hang out at the pool at the Candy Cane Inn with my WISH friends. I am leaving DH and DDs at home. I cannot wait to get that castle medal!

Diane- I know what you mean, when I found out Candy Cane was sold out too I was thinking-I better call & confirm again :teeth:

Helen-that is so cool about Thunder road. I loved Grease growing up & have seen it a million times.

I dont know anything about DL either. I'm going to AAA soon & get their guide book.

I am registered and ready to go, well not quite yet.

We are staying at Disneyland Hotel, so just rolling out of bed to the race. Then probably back into bed again.

The Candy Cane is awesome, there is also a Holiday Inn Express or Crowne Plaza on Harbour BLvd, they are both really close.

I love DL it has such a different feeling than WDW.

If anyone has time you should really do the Fantastmic Desert Party. It is held at the balcony overlooking the Rivers of America. A great view of everything, we do it evrytime we go. Well that is about 1 or twice a year.

Do you have info on how to reserve that? I tried for it a few years ago, but it was already sold out. I'd love to try to do that again this trip!

I booked the Howard Johnson with the Disneyland view just now. A bit more pricey than what I wanted to pay, but at least I have something booked.

I am going to register DH for the race next week. I wish it wasn't filling up so fast. I'd sign up after the Minnie 15k if I felt I really could do it. I don't feel comfortable signing up until then. If it's meant to be, it won't be closed out until after the Minnie! :wizard:

Oh, I'll get to see you all before January..cause we're registered!!! We'll be staying at my DH's aunt's house..8 miles away..but free!! I can't wait to hear Helen sing!! :Pinkbounc Anne
