I've been a member of Curves for a while now. The first time I was a member, I lost weight really fast - 158 to 131lbs in 4 months. I kept it off for two years until I got pregnant and the weight came on again. I joined Curves again and haven't done so well. I started out at about 160 and here I am a year and a half later stuck at 150. Now, I haven't been loyal to my exercise or diet. For a couple of months or so, I'll do great, then slack off. I know that when I get to my goal weight of 135 I'll feel better about myself and stick to the routine, like I did the first time. Our Curves started the Curves Smart last fall I wasn't going to do the Curves Smart because I thought i could do it on my own. However, one of the trainers suggested that I use her "key" (or what ever it is called) so I could give it a try. It kicked my butt! I was huffing and puffing like crazy when I was done. I went ahead and signed up for it and now I just hope it helps. Has anyone had success on it when they weren't getting the results from regular Curves?

My mom is a Curves member and explained the smart program. It seems like you could just use a heart rate chest monitor? :confused3 It seems to do almost the same thing...

Although CurvesSmart is a whole lot tougher workout than regular Curves, when you used the trainer's CurvesSmart card, you were doing a workout tailored for her, not you:eek: Your card will be set for your strength level.

I joined Curves the first of March (also started Nutrisystem at the same time), and went into CurvesSmart after the first week or two. I've lost 22 pounds in a little over 3 months, which is excellent considering that I spent 10 days at Disney during that time and then had bronchial pneumonia for 3 weeks and couldn't work out at all. I just started back this week, but I'm not using my CurvesSmart card until I get my strength back up. With CurvesSmart, I burn between 325-350 calories. I'm 62 years old and have low metabolsim, and there's no way I can lose weight with exercise only--I have to eat right, too. Even at Disney, when I didn't have my Nutrisystem food available, I was very careful about what I ate and managed to lose 2 pounds while I was there. I'm sure that walking 60 miles helped some ::yes::

You also get resistance on the Curves machines. If you're going strictly for cardio, a monitor would work, but if you want to lose weight, you need more than just cardio.

I was just using hers to get an idea of how it worked. The first couple of days on my card were pretty tough too. It has gotten easier though.

Congrats on your success. When I went back to Curves after my son was born, I did Nutrisystem too. I lost 9 pounds the first month, but then got lazy on both sides, exercise and eating right. Anyway, I think I'm on the right track again. I weighed myself (on the Curves scales) at the 2 1/2 week mark and was disappointed to have only lost 1.2 pounds. The trainer did the body fat analysis on me and it stated that I had lost 4 pounds of body fat, which was 3.2%. Plus, my clothes are getting looser on me. So although I haven't been happy about the scales, I know that there is more to it than that. I must have gained more muscle to have lost only 1.2 pounds per the scale but 4 pounds of body fat. So overall, I am happy.

I go for my one month early next week, so I'm hoping for great results. I'll post when I do.
