Anyone doing RSVP's by email?

I'm running behind schedule on sending out invites...the wedding is April 10th! ...I'm contemplating on having everyone RSVP by email...do you think that's tacky...I just figure it's easier to keep track of and it saves a lot on postage....any thoughts?

I say it depends on who are inviting. Are most of your guests tech savvy enough to respond this way? If so, I see nothing wrong with it. Think of it as your way of going green for your wedding!

Oh that's another excellent reason! Yes everyone is tech savvy...I figure that it's the most common way people communicate nowadays as well...any suggestions on wording for the invitation insert?

According to every do and don't of weddings E-mail ivitations have always been a don't. I think as long as you get the invites out by mid february you should be good. It doesn't take a month to figure out if you are going to a wedding or not (unless it's a destination wedding) so that should be enogh time to send the RSVP's to come back to you.

Yes we are mailing out invites but instead of having a card with prepaid postage for the RSVP I was thinking of maybe having a small card stating to RSVP by email by whatever the specified date...I know personally I have a hard time getting "real" mail out...lol...I've read that on etiquette sites...that's why
I thought I'd put it out there and see what people thought. This will be a destination wedding for majority of the guests.

I just sent out my wedding invitations and did an email RSVP, and so far things have been working smoothly. I have had a few non tech savvy people that have complained, but they knew how to get in contact with us if they didn't have email.

My big reason for doing so was because of all the postage and then people not even returning the RSVP card by mail (and I have to say that I have been known to be one of those people).

This was my wording:

The favour of a reply is requested before
(insert date here).

Please RSVP to
(insert email here).

LOL... I went simple. I didn't really go fancy with it because I couldn't really find the proper wording online. I hope this helps!!!

I actually think this is a fantastic idea!! That way you can see who is coming through an email and it will be a lot faster!!

We're doing both email and snail mail, I'd say if your guests are mostly younger it's fine, but if you have lots of older guests they would be more likely not to respond if that's their only option. You could go either way I suppose.

Since you sent out the invites, I really like the idea of an email RSVP! As a guest, I think it would easier to RSVP by email anyways, rather than by having to do it by mail
