Anyone do the kayaking excursions on St. Maarten or St. Thomas??

We are thinking of doing the kayaking in St. Maarten or St. Thomas and were wondering if anyone did either and how they liked it. We are especially curious about Simpson Bay Lagoon. What is the water like? And on the St. Thomas marine sanctuary kayaking trip, what is that like? how nice is bovini bay and beach? Barb
