I just booked the tea at the American Girl Place in NYC. Any experiences? I'm assuming it's nice, but I'd love to hear a firsthand account.

Well...I hope your folks like it better than mine did!!! My girlfriend and I did a train trip to Chicago with both of our families (husbands included). I thought the tea was really nice....so did she! The rest of the crowd was a wee bit tougher!! The husbands were like "what...is this supposed to be our food? Are we going someplace else for real food after this???":rotfl2:

The girls (four of them) were like "....ewwwww....what is this? And...what is that?...that's o.k. we'll just drink the lemonade and hot chocolate and make you pay for mcdonalds later"

My poor friend and I...we just ate what we could and boxed up the rest...for ourselves and said that at least we had done it!! That being said, it really is nice! Tea items are tea items...little sandwiches with different fillings! Not pizza!! What are you going to do? The kids loved the decor, having the dolls sit with us and just hanging out together (they had their own table and the adults all sat at the table next to them). In restrospect, it would have been better for us to do lunch or dinner where they could order what they wanted.

Uh oh! I hope my girls like it. If there are scones to be eaten, they'll be happy. Who doesn't love a baked good at 4pm? Daddy will be with us too, but he'll smile and go along!

We did it with my girls and loved it!!! We've done the tea and the brunch...and had a great experience both times! I thought all of the menu items were very child friendly. There were adult choices and child choices. The girls got "treat seats" for their dolls. It was lovely! There isn't one bad thing that I could say about our experience either times---I thought the food was fresh and worth the money.

I think the girls will like it. This trip is our birthday present to DD6 (soon to be 7). She's not really into toys per se, but she does love her AG dolls. We'll go up on the train, see some sights, go to the store/tea and stay overnight. Then we'll explore some more the next day and head home on the train. She loves NYC and will be so surprised when we tell her!

we live nearby and have done it a few times. i think that the foods are very kid friendly, our kids ate and loved the entire experience! go and enjoy!!

My girls loved it. We went to lunch then the show in NYC.We had cheeseburger sliders, vegtables and dip and other things ( my memory is shot!). We all enjoyed it very much. My youngest didn't go (too young at the time) so we're going in the spring. I thought the oldest wouldn't want to go, but she said she does.:) Enjoy!
