I'm thinking of taking my son to get made up like a pirate here prior to the start of one of the Halloween parties. Anyone ever do it? I'd love to hear about your experiences!

We did it last year with my daughters and they LOVED it. We have it scheduled again for this year. The whole experience is so neat. The makeup artist stay in pirate character the entire time. My girls chose pirates league over the bbb this time.

My dd loved it when she was 4! Have it booked again for our next trip when she'll be 6 and she is excited about doing it again!

We have done it and the kids really enjoyed it, only suggestion is try and get an early session we did wait for a while for our turn due to the back up throughout the day.

I agree with this!
My DDs did PL last year and loved it. We had a 9:05 appt and it went so smoothly. The CMs there are phenomenal!

We had kids and adults...ages 5, 6, 12, and 40's! We all loved it. Great experience and we will definitely do it again!

I thought it was neat. The CM's there are some of the best I've seen! My girls did it and while they liked it, I think its a one and done for us, much like BBB. Took too much time from our day and the girls wore the stuff for about an hour before it got on their nerves and went into my park bag.

Just did it today! Only cautionary tale is if you have younger children. My 3 year old would have no part of it at all. We essentially got him a t shirt, his sash, and sword. He cried when they were going to paint his face and the poor CM practically had to beg him to put his pirate tattoo on. My oldest, however is 7 and he loved it! The CM's here are great and really do a great job!

Our girls actually liked Pirates League more than the BBB. :goodvibes

It was a fun experience! :thumbsup2

My two teen girls did pirates league this past October and loved the experience. They get pirate names, then get their makeovers. The room is really well themed and fun to look at all of the decor. The parents get to sit on couches and ottoman style furniture while the kids get turned into pirates. The cast members here are AMAZING! They stay on character and have fun with everyone they encounter. After the make over you are taken to a super secret room where portraits are taken. Super cool experience.

I have some photos posted on Flickr if you want to see them. The pirate league photos start about 6 rows down.

We did this last year for my two grandsons, ages 4 and 6. The loved it, a great experience.

My daughter did it when she was 10 and still talks about as she nears 15... a highlight for the ages. The CM who did hers remembered her a year later AND remembered the Pirate name she was given: Constance Squidcheese!

THAT is Disney Magic.

My 4 year old daughter was made up like a pirate and loved it. She really loved the Jack Sparrow show outside too.

People have not mentioned yet but I must say the value for the experience was huge.

They spend a lot of time with the kids making them up. The kids get a sword, medallion, little treasure chest, eye patch, pirate bandana, pirate sash to hold the sword and they do a lot of fun stuff with the kids once they are done. When you add up just the stuff they include with the experience it is around what you are paying.

I will definitely do this with her again if she wants to. :thumbsup2

Subbing!

I'm taking my 5 year old son for his birthday to do this. My DH and I will also have our 2 year old that can't do the experience. Anyone know if there is anything to keep the 2 year old busy while we are there or should I take him off to do something different? I really don't want to miss out on the experience, especially because DS and DH are doing together but I also don't want to ruin their experience with a bored 2 year old.

My daughter will turn three when we are down there. How do I prove she is three? She won't have a ticket linked to her bracelet. Will here birth certificate be fine or are they really not that demanding?

What about walking over to POC and riding then maybe picking out a hat, patch or sword for your 2 year old. That's my plan when my 5 year old does it this Fall. Take pictures for a few minutes, walk to POC, then return and take more pictures! Then the two year old won't be going crazy while he waits!

Agree. We did it and enjoyed it. I doubt we will do it again unless we have another child. One IMPORTANT hint...keep in mind the temps if your child is wearing face paint. We asked for minimal make up and were very glad. Even with the little he had (a beard) it started running with the sweat from the heat. Be careful if you are visiting in the summer.

My kids favorite part of the trip was PL. It was an awesome experience. Yds was up with jack Sparrow at tutorial after and showed his true pirate side by pulling his OWN sword on the pirate instead of the foam one they usually give kids. The crowd loved it and Jack let him go :rotfl:

Joining in. We have this booked for DS in June while DD does BBB. I've been excited about it but concerned that the costume & makeup won't last (water rides, summer heat, etc). Sounds like the experience is still worthwhile even if he takes everthing off after a few hours. Thanks!

Did it last week with my five year old. The finished product was fabulous! He was a star in MK the rest of the day. They are very bawdy, and he was a tad overwhelmed for part of it, and he is an outgoing kid. His favorite part was going in the secret treasure room after they did him up. I bought him a gauzy pirate shirt there and the bandana, fake earring, patch and sword and sheath were included. We had a wait when we checked in (ten to fifteen min?) and still were out of there in 40 minutes from appt time. We lucked into Brittany as our pirate stylist. She has a great reputation on line, and she was wonderful. The make up around his eyes took days to come off, but the beard was easy. Bring eye make up remover! I had warned him we wouldn't choose the full face make up due to the heat. And I discouraged the Jake look because of the wig. It was well worth it.
