We are going to be staying at the VWL in a one bedroom (yes, we finally decided on that). We will also be doing the regular dining plan for the first time.
Has anyone done the dining plan and made a grocery order too? I was thinking about ordering water, juice, milk and some breakfast items. But I'm not sure if it would be worth it or not. Would I be better off to just purchase those items from the gift shop at VWL? We will be taking Magical Express, so we won't have any access to a car.

We will have our 2 year old DS with us, and I know he will want milk or juice first thing in the morning.

You will get plenty of food on the DDP but if you want additional items go ahead and order.

Last year, we did the regular dining plan and also bought groceries at the local Wal-mart. We got things like water, cokes, snacks, and breakfast items. Next year, we are going to do the dining plan again, but I'm thinking about ordering my groceries and having them delivered just to save time. I don't see a problem with it at all.

Last year we just bought things from the store at AKV rather than have a delivery. We didn't order enough to cover the delivery charge with the savings in cost of the items. I brought coffee from home. We always fly SW so can usually pack a few snacks etc in the luggage. AKV gift shop had gallon jugs of water and we got juice, milk , bread and eggs. If you are looking for adult beverages for in the room then having a delivery may be the way to go as beer was $5 a bottle in the gift shop. You can check the price of the items by looking at the grocery list on the member website. Not all of the resorts have the same things or prices so be sure to check the one for your resort.

We get the DDP and do a grocery order from Garden Grocer. It is nice to have breakfast in the room plus we get water, juice, soda and milk plus some snacks to carry around. We do combine order with another family we travel with so the delivery fee is split. I like having bottles of water to take with us to the parks as they are so much more expensive to buy individually and I wouldn't want to waste a snack on water. :)

We do the dining plan and we usually stop by the grocery store for...water, Pepsi (a luxury not found on WDW property), milk (DS goes through 1/2 gallon a day), a few breakfast items (yogurt, bagels, p.butter, cream cheese, cereal, eggs, bread), some snacks (ice-cream, fruity snacks, chips). My kids also LOVE fresh fruit, so we always pick up some of that too.

DS (3) is a total grazer, so the dining plan won't work great for him. (Aug/Sept is actually the first time we'll have to get it for him) He would prefer to wander around with an apple, then an hour later have a cheese stick, then maybe some popcorn. If they had an all snack dining plan, it would fit him to a tee!:rotfl:

Yes, we usually get grocery delivery - DDP or not. We have 2 little ones, so we get delivery for milk, yogurt, cereal bars, etc. Last time we got our formula and baby food from the grocery delivery, also for us, we like to carry water bottles into the park so we get water also. And we are Pepsi drinkers so we get our Pepsi fix this way, too!

Same here, except insert Diet Pepsi...since one can only find Coke products on site :scared1: , we (I should say "I") always have extra grocery items delivered, with or without the Dining Plan...sorry to say, it's an addiction (but not quite as strong as my one for WDW!):rotfl:

I even had them delivered last trip despite the fact we had a rental car...did not want to waste valuable outlet mall shopping time visiting a grocery store! It was so worth it!

Another vote for yes. Normally we have them delivered by the resort, but have realized how much our "booze" bill is buying it at the on premises store.

Beer and wine is almost 50% more of course.

This year, we are trying "wego" and will be submitting our order this week.

The usual breakfast foods, milk, butter, cream, etc

I think its worth it.

The DDP is way too expensive, and too much food for our dining needs, so we order from Garden Grocer. The money we save, we use for upscale dinners at the resort.

Last May we did just what you are suggesting. We had breakfast in our room everyday. So we ordered eggs, bacon, cereal, milk, juice, snacks and other adult items for after the long days at the park. I used wegoshop.com, you pay for just what you order plus a delivery fee. Marge is great to work with.

We used Garden Grocer for our last trip and it was great. Fresh produce we ordered was really nice - like I might have chosen myself.
