Anyone check out the new Jupelo?

by the way i'm finding the newest 'idiots at disney' incarnation of his site rather amusing.

i hope he keeps it up and doesn't just shut the site down or change it again.

so here's what i think happened. his continuous references to 'hate email' is the major clue. he has probably been getting an avalanche of hate mail. not now but when the site was in its first format. don't any of you remember that comments section he had? i can guarantee you most of the mail was probably just people who were jealous. but people with big egos tend to also be hurt very easily, and he probably did get more than he expected. but the difference between him and most people is these big ego people channel that hurt into work and 'success'. i even think his about me page referenced something along these lines. and he is deflecting the fact that he is hurt by the emails by turning it around and saying he likes hate mail

Well, I think it's pretty obvious that this is what happened. Although I suspect most of the hate mail came during the second incarnation of the site. A lot of people probably called the numerous pictures of a garbage can idiotic - which, quite frankly, it was. Notice how he uses the word "idiot" and "idiotic" over and over. It was kinda neat to watch him walk around the parks but I think he wasn't getting the reaction he wanted. So like some of the posters above said, he instead decided to poke fun at other people. On his site's current version he says it's meant to be "tongue-in-cheek", but I don't find it humorous at all - I think it's downright creepy.

The reason I first started following his site was because I found him a lot similar to myself...I'm a young guy who would love to spend a year at WDW if I had the time and money. But all the changes in the site lately really make me wonder if this thing was just a big ole hoax the whole time. Regardless, I don't think the site is amusing the way it is now - if someone called his earlier site idiotic then boohoo, no need to be a spoiled brat about it. Either that, or he's completely lost his mind. It doesn't matter anyhow, I've completely lost interest in it.

I supported the kid from the getgo... But I did read a lot of his comments and a lot of them LACKED EMPATHY. He didn't care what he said and/or thought.

I don't doubt he has 3 businesses, I don't doubt anything he said. But all I know is any child who starts a business at 15, then continues to upgrade to 3 businesses isn't exactly normal.

But I still think the kid reminds me of Timothy McVey.

what will you do if he makes good on his charity promise? what if he does start that charity he was talking about? what if he helps thousands of kids around the world like he said he wants to?

boy that sounds just like timothy mcvey huh?

brilliant people push boundaries. they push them hard. it tends to scare the 'content' to death.

to expand more on my own thoughts, i have been a child psychologist in los angeles for almost 20 years. i've seen kids far more screwed up than this one, dealing with the same issues that come with being in adult fields at a young age (usually acting around here).

i'm just so taken by what he has done, because so much of it confirms things i've noticed in kids like him over the years.

trust me. he's not a timothy mcvey. he just doesn't fit in any kind of a box, which can scare people, so they put it in a context they can be comfortable with (mcvey).

people like him tend to be the ones who have the last laugh. my gut feeling is i'm going to open the newspaper in 5 years and read about the charity he's started.

then, of course, he'll go blow up a building. makes total sense (????????)

A charity? Really? I just don't see it. His site is now making fun of people who are going to Disney and enjoying themselves. Why make fun of people having fun? I mean, it seems like a bitter thing for him to do. Not something that a good hearted, charity giving person would do. It seems like is original idea was too much for him to handle. Instead of stepping back, admitting defeat, or getting help, he moved on to something else. That didn't work as planned and now he's just angry and bitter at himself and those criticizing him and he's making fun of them. Seems very childlike and immature. I don't know if he is a violent guy, I don't know him. I do think he has lost his way and is just lashing out now. Maybe he'll get back on track again. I hope he does. It was a giant undertaking and it's sad to see it come to this.

If he creates a charity, great for him. When he does it, let me know.

But regardless, a person who spends time searching the internet to find pics of people acting goofy... they need something better to do with their time. He should go back to being a photographer or something and leave other people alone.

Hmmmm, celebrity. As someone who has grown up in a family of psychologists... I just don't see how you can pull a "he's brilliant and misunderstood" diagnosis off of what you've seen on that ridiculous website alone. It just doesn't seem all that credible to me. Moreover, I also can't help but find the awed flattery you're piling upon this so-called Jupelo a little strange. :scratchin

Whoever he is, I don't believe any of it for one second.

I find it a little strange that someone who just started posting feels such passion on this subject. I don't think you can tell that much just from a website.

as stated in my 1st post, i am not a disney fan. i stumbled on this site about 2 weeks ago searching google for articles on jupelo. i originally heard about his site on boingboing.net.

i've been following the discussions on here about jupelo and did not feel compelled to say anything until someone brought up violent behavior. i found it to be an interesting point of view, something that resonated with past experience i've had in my work. although i do think it is an incorrect assessment.

it's been hard as a child psychologist in LA who deals with kids of a similar ilk (if his site is true) to not be intrigued by the changes in the site and his whole atittude. i apologize if i sound like i'm blindly praising him. i am just trying to not jump on the bandwagon and write him off as being nuts in a bad way. i have saved all of his trip reports and read them over a few times, and i think there's quite a lot of material there to get a sense of who he is. maybe a lot of you haven't read most of them? or have only been to the newest incarnation of the site which doesn't have any substantial text on it?

I don't think being a psychologist anywhere makes a difference. Its difficult where ever you are. I have a friend who lives in a town of like 300 people and some of the kids she works with.....

This will be my last reply... I need to learn to walk away.

i bring up LA not because it's big, but because there are kids like 'Jupelo' who have made a lot of money, often before they even turn 18, and the money combined with the unusually adult responsibilities they often take on in order to make and sustain that money adds a very big twist to the typical scenario.

i didn't mean to imply that LA kids have the most problems. i fully understand your point about the friend who works in a town with 300 people and the kids are basically the same as what i probably see. i agree with you on that.

I have no more insight than anyone else, but I had the feeling all long this was not for real. What it appears to me, is he was some guy there on a normal length vacation (even though he said he was there for a year). He took his streamed pictures while he was there and after the vacation ended and he went home to wherever he really lives he started posting the Trash Can photos and videos. Now that he has run out of photos to post he is taking photos off other websites (which is not always a legal thing to do) and putting them on his own site and calling them IDIOTs. All of this has always sounded very fishy to me....I think he or she is a person with a few issues in life... :scratchin

i don't know. i still have this mental image of him sitting on a balcony at the grand floridian, reading this discussion on the wireless internet he mentioned in one of his trip reports, and laughing his head off. but maybe i'm being too optimistic.

sounds to me that celebrity is jupelo, whatever he is a wacko.
i did love the site at first, but i think that he got what heset out to do, and that was to become a "someone" even if it was for a few seconds. someone should tell his parents!! :rotfl: :lmao:

Check it out now, unless it is just me, for the past 2 days when I try to pull up the webpage, it is just a blank white page. :confused3

This is just my two cents on it, and I have posted this before. I loved his site while it was up and running, like many here did. Then suddenly it changed and we got photos of Spaceship Earth and trash cans. Once again it changed and we got pictures of people taken from other sites and called IDIOTIC by Jupelo.

I believe it was all false, I do not think he is a 19 year old guy who is at Disney for 300 days. Seems to me he was there for a fairly normal amount of days for a normal vacation length. He posted some still photos after that, which could have been taken anytime at WDW. When he ran out of photos he started the IDIOTIC photos which did not last long.

My take on it is we were duped by someone on a normal vacation, and they got their 15 minutes of fame from it. I do not know about any things that were sold from the website such as videos as I paid no attention to it. All of this is my two cents on it....I know many will not agree, which is fine, do not flame me please it is just my opinion is all.... :sunny:

Same Here. I came across this thread, having totally forgotten about Jupelo. When I read all the stuff here, I wanted to see what was going on. All white. Nothing but white.
