Anyone buy TravelGuard w/the Costco package?

I was offered this optional travel insurance when I purchased our DL package through Costco Travel. It would've been $59/adult, and I think the rep. said it would cover things like lost or stolen items and unexpected medical expenses. We have medical coverage, and I didn't foresee we would bring anything valuable besides our laptop so I declined...but now I'm wondering if I should've purchased it. We will be bringing our own stroller & probably our point & shoot camera, too. Has anyone purchased TravelGuard & found it was worth it...or anyone had an experience where they wished they had? Would love to hear your thoughts & opinions on this! :goodvibes

Does it include trip cancellation/interruption? That can be useful. My mother died while I was on vacation in Europe about 10 years ago and I had bought that kind of insurance, and they paid for me to fly back early (it was over $6K for dh and I to fly back on such short notice). Not to make anyone paranoid, of course; that's probably pretty unusual. But I guess that's what it's for - things that crop up out of the blue.

Yes, I believe that includes any fees if I do decide to cancel/make changes. I'm very sorry to hear about your mom.

No worries - just goes to show you that stuff can happen you never plan for, so it's not a total waste of money.

I thought that you had to purchase it. We didn't have a choice. I was glad we did as we had a tire problem and they fixed it immediately.

I have bought Costco packages twice and never got it and haven't had any issues.

We didn't get it. We did choose to pay $60 through my credit card for cancellation or interruption insurance. As long as major purchases are made on the card then we're covered. Beats the $140 through Costco...and that would only cover the Disney package--not flights, rental car, etc.

We also have coverage through our credit card. They cover a certain value which is quite large for trip insurance. If you used a credit card I would call their customer service number and ask about the coverage.
