Umbrella strollers are uncomfortable for the kids IMO since most do not recline. We took our Jeep Cherokee or used one of the ship's strollers for several cruises. My DD was comfortable and safely confined in her stroller when we went into port. A happy child is better than a grumpy one because they can't be comfortable enough to nap if necessary. We used the stroller much less on the ship than you do in the parks, and we used one there for years. Avoid the midship elevators when you have a stroller because those have the biggest crowds during prime times. We still do this "trick" when onboard even though we don't have strollers now. If you are on a low deck and want to go up, take the elevator going down. You will find hardly anyone is waiting to go down. This will get you settled on the elevator and it will be going up in a matter of moments. It often fills up on decks 1 & 2 and is full by the time it gets back to deck 4. Do the same thing when on the upper decks and want to go down.![]()
Why are umbrella strollers still sold if they are so uncomfortable for the child? Who would buy them?
I think although the child should be comfortable, everyones enjoyment of the spaces of the ship should not be dictated or compromised by an individual pax comfort. Your child really is your concern, not everyone else's, so bringing an oversized stroller than needed, or because it is more convenient to you, isn't necessarily convenient to everyone else on the ship, pax or crew.
A citi mini stroller might be "mini" in a city, but at 24" wide, will be a struggle with the elevators, hallways and any venue aboard. Sometimes you do need to hold your child and collapse the stroller for everyones enjoyment of the spaces.
