It's been a long while since we traveled by plane, a decade to be exact, so I'm looking for new luggage that would comply with the new airline carry-on rules. Has anyone bought any luggage sets recently that you would recommend?

I'm considering the Lands End Lighthouse luggage set right now but any recommendations would be appreciated!

We just bought bags from Eddie Bauer. We also bought some Disney luggage from E-Bags.

Look on ebags.com, and search for the eBags brand Mother Lode. There are 3 different sizes...a mini (good for carry on), Junior (perfect size for me), and the original Mother Lode (way too big because if you fill it, you'll go overweight).

These are duffel-style bags, but way different than your normal duffel bag. The sides are stiff, so they don't collapse. They can also be configured in many different ways. There's a short video on the ebags website that is very informative.

I bought 2 of the Junior sized bags, and so far they are wearing like iron. They've been through 14 different transfers, and still look brand new. Plus, they have a lifetime warranty in the event something ever happens. I have many, many suitcases (I'm a bit of an addict, lol), and these are definitely my favorite ones and the only ones I use now.

Sherry: Do you happen to have either of the totes that they offer too? I LOVE the look of these bags!

Not sure which one you're referring to, but I do have the eBags Unexpected Weekend Carry-All. However, I don't think it's offered anymore. Like my eBags Mother Lode Jr duffels, this bag is made really well, and the design is great.

The only other eBags branded products I have are a bunch of their packing cubes. I really like those too.

So far, I've been super happy with eBags branded products. They are great quality, and the price is reasonable. Plus, if you don't like something you ordered, you can ship it back for free.

Before you make any decision on the bag you want, I would recommend going on the airline website to get the maximum dimensions allowed.

That way you'll have no surprises when you get to the airport.

just for fun...

i was on the disney shopping website today.... they had the mm lugage sets for like $49... down from $99... i think it was a three piece set....

:thumbsup2 We have three sets from Disney Shopping. They have held up very nicely.
This year my daughter wanted a pink set. I ordered from Ebay...Luggage Guy.
I paid $85 and the delivery was free and no tax. It was a 4 piece set and is very nice. We are flying Delta and can only check one bag for free. the 2nd size was too big for carry-on, so it will be left behind. Then we have a carry-on and a smaller bag as a personal item.

If you go to the Mousesavers through the following link, look at the yellow box in the middle of the page. In it is a link to get an additional 15% off at eBags (certain types of luggage aren't discounted), but this is how I've gotten my luggage in the past and it worked great!

BTW, the carry on luggage that I have is made by Atlantic, and I love it!

If you decide to purchase in person, many brands will put a label on bags that can be used as a carry on. I usually recommend someone grab one of those and measure it up to the ones that don't label them.

All I can say is the luggage with the 4 wheels on them rock.....!
