I just booked airfare from Seattle to Maui using Travelocity. I have never booked airfare online before and I need some reassurance!!:goodvibes I booked with NWA but they did not allow me to choose the seats. Does anyone know when you are able to book seats with them? Please help - I am quite nervous about this!! I only booked online because it was a few hundred dollars cheaper per ticket.:)

You are actually smart to use Travelocity as it gives you a cushion in case anything goes wrong! My friend had booked Hawaii in May with Hotwire and then Aloha Airlines went bankrupt, which they had them booked on. They gave them the option of a total refund or to rebook on another carrier. Don't worry, Maui is so great you be having an excellent time soon and wondering why you even worried in the first place-Aloha!

I've bought airfare through Travelocity.ca. I think you have to choose the seats on the airline's website... you should get a reservation/booking number (about 6 digits/letters) that is different from the Travelocity booking number, and you use that to go in to your reservation on NWA and (if you're not in the blackout period when you can't choose seats) see what's available and choose your seats.

Even if you can't choose seats, that doesn't necessarily mean they're overbooked. But I would show up nice and early at the airport if you don't have an assigned seat yet on the day of flying!

I used Travelocity last Sept for a sudden and unexpected trip to DL.
I had no problems and I can not recall any problems chooseing seat but as I recall it was done as part of the process when I booked the tickets.
But we flew Alaska....so NWA might not be the same?

We had no problems though.

Thanks for the replies. I feel so much better now that other people have booked through them without any problems. The cost was about $200 cheaper per ticket!! Someone told me that you can book your seats at 90 days before departure. Thanks so much - I knew I could count on my fellow DISers!!:)

I too booked a trip with Travelocity. I booked a Disney World trip for my family and I and our neighbours who came along. I thought it was great and you're right, the savings were great! I did get to choose my seats going there and coming back, but only 30 days in advance...no sooner. I also called Travelocity to make some requests at the Disney resort we stayed at and they had me hold on the phone while they called the resort themselves. All in all, it was a great experience. We flew from Toronto, Ontario to Orlando, Florida. I would do it again in a heartbeat!:)

Thanks for the info, Bleacher! Next time we go to WDW I am going to try to book throught Travelocity again. We only booked our airfare throught them as we have rented a condo privately but I think I may do air/room with Travelocity. Do you find the room was any cheaper with them than through Disney?

I have booked flights with travelocity.ca and expedia.ca Each time I did not get seats until check in. That is one of the ways I kept my cost down.

Remember to buy your insurance - trip cancellation and medical! I like RBC Insurance. Great family rates.
