Anyone booked Eurostar with Nectar Points?

We want to do this but wondered what the prices were like when using this route and whether the whole process is pain free. The Nectar website says I can book a Eurostar ticket from 14,000 points - that equates to £70 in Sainsburys which is only just under half of what the total Eurostar bill will be for 2 return journeys so I may be better just booking Eurostar normally and using the Nectar points to offset shopping costs. I'm hoping someone will tell me that the rates are awesome when booking via Nectar, but any help would be much appreciated.

TIA

Sorry to break the bad news, but you would need to spend £7000 at Sainsburys - you get one nectar point for every £2 spent and then one point for every bag that you reuse!

I have almost 14,000 nectar points at the moment so I 'should' be able to get at least half of the fares paid for now and maybe more depending on how much more I save between now and when we book. I have a Sainsburys Credit card so I get double points, plus I spend £200 a month on petrol, at the Sainsburys petrol pumps!

I think he means that for 14,000 points he could save £70 off shopping at Sainsbury's.

Ah, all makes sense now! We looked at using nectar points, but have nowhere near enough, largely due to living in Tesco town and the nearest Sainsburys being miles away!

We are the opposite - no Tesco but a Sainsburys, which is good for us as we have always shopped in Sainsburys!

I guess even if offset the Nectar points against spending in Sainsburys and then use that to pay for 'x'% of the ticket prices we are still going to get reduced tickets - I an ideal world booking through Nectar would have added bonuses!

Nectar do deals sometimes with Eurostar, cruises etc so keep an eye out. The best deals tend to be in the new year:thumbsup2

Ages ago now I looked at this but as you go to Lille it was going to be a faff - shame they don't do to Disney direct. We have around 30,000 points now as we bought a car and got them too!

I can't recall the exact price but it was dependent on how many points you used - there were set points - say 4000 points + £80, 12,000 points + £45 etc.

Not much help sorry - but I do also recall the eurostar timings didn't work v well with connections etc - was really quite put off but it was quite some time ago and things may have changed.

Would be interested to know what it's like now if you are looking into it. Thanks :thumbsup2

you can use tesco clubcard points for eurostar, via airmiles with clubcard deals :)

You can and I have but as Clubcard points are rarer than hen's teeth right now I wouldn't recommend anyone start shopping at Tesco just for the points!;)

That would put me off - we did the Lille route a few years ago but there's no way I'd do anything but direct with Lucas and all his bits in tow. Looks like the money offset method could be the one to go with.

Thanks

:rotfl: too true :(

lol i meant if people had clubcard vouchers burning a hole ( i wish :rotfl: )

Steve - it may have changed to direct eurostar but I doubt it.... Might be worth ringing them and checking (Nectar that is)...? It definately put us off with one child (and now we live even further from londong and we have two so even more a no go)!
