Anyone booked an AP rate room?

I posted this in another thread but I also decided to start a new thread.

I just tried to book an DLR AP room rate. I don't have an AP, I am going to buy one before my next trip.

1. The DLR phone rep couldn't make my reservation unless I have an AP card number.

2. They couldn't hold room only reservations for 24 hours (although I had done this last week).

Anyone else had any similiar experience?

Are you able to book online? If your info is already in there under the AP section, I would just book online. Price should be the same...

I've never ever ever had to give my ap number when booking an AP rate over the phone. Call back! They really don't care--if you show up without one, they'll just charge you the rack rate anyway. Lots of people book ap rates before they have the ap; you can even add one to your reservation. If you get there and haven't processed it yet, they'll just check you in at the hotel and let you go take care of it. As long as you get it done the same day, you're good!

ETA: Lots of times you will get a cm on the phone who doesn't know what they're talking about. Just call back and try again.

My previous AP expired so I am not able to do it online.

I have never had an issue in the past with booking an AP rate and not having an AP until I actually checked in.

I'd love to second or third that question. :wave2: I called the reservations line this morning and talked to three different people, and got three different answers regarding this topic. I know that happens pretty often, but I'd love to get a straight answer!

I don't have an AP yet, and never have had one. But, with our stay at the DLH in August coming up, and the hope of summer discounts long gone, I think that if a 10% AP room discount were available, it would be worth my while to buy a DAP for myself.

But, how does that work if I don't actually have my AP yet, and wouldn't be able to activate it until we arrived? The CM's on the phone today said I'd have to wait until check-in to see if the AP rate was still available and if so, then they'd apply it. But, that doesn't sound like it would work, because if it weren't available, I wouldn't want the AP in the first place. None of the three people I was transferred to today offered to apply the discount, which was available for my room category as of today, and then remove it if I did not have an AP when I arrived, which is how I thought it worked. :confused3 I'm so confused!

Help!!! Thank you! :flower3:

Yes, hopefully you just called. I stayed last november and booked an AP rate before I activated mine. You should have no problem doing that.

Okay, just called back. Made my reservation with no issues.

Yay! Glad it worked out.

My rule of thumb for all businesses if I don't get the answer I want is to call back 3 times. If I get the same "no" answer all 3 times I usually stop, but very often I will eventually hear what I want to hear by the 3rd try. I don't mean trying to talk them into something outside their normal policy, I mean things I'm fairly sure they already offer. There are so many things for the customer service people to deal with that it's no wonder they can't always keep up, especially if they're new.

I'm glad it worked for you! Maybe I'll get the same person you did when I call back. ;)

That's a good rule of thumb. :) I will call again and hope to get it worked out. :teacher:

Well, goodness, the 4th time is the charm, evidently. :upsidedow I just called once more and it took about 60 seconds to get it all taken care of. I saved 10% and just have to stop by the ticket booth to activate my new AP before we check in. Definitely worth it! Can't wait!!!

Can anyone check the rates for PPH for Sept 23-30th for me? I'm assuming they haven't changed...but I'm still curious lol. Anyone have any idea when the better rates for September will come out?

$225 standard, although you'd have to upgrade to view or concierge to get an AP rate at all on the 27th & 28th.

Thanks :) It's looking more and more like we will be doing the Best Western this time. I want to stay onsite again; but $1000 is a lot to save.
