I just found out that I could book my trip through Costco, and they are giving a free character breakfast and a $20 gift card when you book. The only problem I have found is that HoJo is not one of their resorts. So this makes my question now two fold. How was your booking through CostCo and out of these resorts, which do you recommend?

Anabella
Hilton
Best Western Park Place Inn
Carousel Inn
Best Western Raffles Inn and Suite

I didn't book with them because I really wanted to stay at the Candy Cane Inn this time around. It's a shame as the character breakfast would have been nice.

Both BWPPI and Carousel are the closest and get good reviews on this board. I would go with one of those since you basically right at the crosswalk to DLR.

I've booked through Costco, which was great! Actually, when you book a Disney package through Costco, you're actually booking through Disneyland Resort Reservations. (It's the same as booking on the Disneyland website, expect by booking through the Costco link, you usually get a few nice extras in your package.

Out of the Good Neighbor hotels you listed, I would go with either the Best Western Park Place Inn, or the Carousel Inn. Both are right across the street from the main entrance to the parks, and both get good reviews here and on tripadvisor. They're nothing fancy, but both are good, clean, nice places to stay.

I booked through Costco but we are staying at the DLH. I also wondered why only some of the good neighbor hotels were listed and not all. You are really booking thru Disney so I wonder why they limit your choices. Yes the character meal and $20 GC is a nice incentive.

Be sure and double check your pricing though as I just played around with some of the resorts and even though the package included the character breakfast and the giftcard...it came out to be higher than if I'd booked thru Hojos or CCI and just paid for those features o.o.p.

It is odd that you said that. I just decided to check the same thing myself and the costco trip came up about $120 more than booking through disney about the same cost of the breakfast and the gift card hmmmmmmmmmmmm

So, you'd probably be better off just staying at your first choice of resort instead of feeling like you had to choose one you really didn't want. :thumbsup2

that is exactly what I think I am going to do. I really want to stay at HoJo's so this trips is going to be all about going with my first mind! :goodvibes

When I was booking our package last year, I noticed that the list of GN hotels varied. It was all about availability at the time you were looking, is what I came to realize.

I also noticed that the cost of the package was the same as AAA's price, plus all but 2 cents of the cost of the character meals.

Now in our case, at the time we booked, the giftcard did take it to the point where it was less expensive than buying the AAA package and paying OOP for the character b'fast.

We liked having the package for our first big visit, and getting the MTTMM so we could experience it (and find out that it's not worth that much to us), getting the lanyard (but we each still got another lanyard, and the Costco lanyards now just sit in a box!) and the little pin (I still have mine but DH traded it right away with the CM who redeemed our vouchers for the pins).

And as I got further in planning and really started getting a handle on things, I knew I could have done better price-wise booking separately.

So if you're already at that stage, before booking anything, and if the package "stuff" means little or nothing to you, just book a la carte and you'll be fine! :)

Unfortunately, you always have to price out Disney trips every which way to see which is the best deal at any particular moment.

Last year, we got the best deal (when factoring in all of the extras) from Costco. But, you have to figure out if the extras are meaningful to you (they were to us) as well as whether it is the best deal.

Spreadsheets come in handy with this Disney stuff.

When we booked our package, we actually found that the Costco trip was more pricey (even with the cost of a character breakfast and a gc) than directly going through Disney or using AAA. For us, AAA would have been the cheapest by a teeny bit, but we went through Disney to use the Disney Visa and get their perks + the 0% for 6 months. :) I still can't figure out why the Costco package was more $$, as they are usually great for prices.

I booked with Costco not this past Christmas but the Christmas prior and I had no issues at all...I really liked using them and basically paid the same price as everybody else but they threw in the gift card and character breakfasts which added about a $100 savings...Out of all the places you listed I would go with Hilton or Anabella...BWPPI is so so ...the main draw to BWPPI and Carousel would be the fact that they are right by the crosswalk...Raffles is meh....

personally if you have little kids then the package offers are good but if your not interested in it then I would book separate....

We booked with Costco on our last trip and stayed at PP. They were the same price as booking directly through Disneyland.com, except that Costco included a free character breakfast and the $20 GC. We were very pleased with the Costco package.

This time we opted to book through GetAwayToday.com because they had a larger selection of hotels to choose from. We would've gladly used Costco again had their hotel selection been a bit larger.

I just paid the deposit on a trip booked thru AAA and it actually showed up on my Disney Visa as being charged by Disney. So I'm sure we could use the 0% if we wanted to.

Well, bugger, who knew!? I tried asking the lady when I called and she didn't know for sure, and I just wanted to book that day. :) Oh well!

Our last two trips have been booked through Costco to get their added bonuses.

Last time we stayed at the PPH (basedo on previous experiences) and this time we're staying at the DLH (in March).

Working with Costco is really no different than doing it online through the Disney web site, except that you get any perks that Costco is adding on. Been great both times.

I just booked our late April trip yesterday after tinkering around with Costco, Disney, and Alaska Air for the past couple of weeks. I chose to not use Costco, because I too, was disappointed that they did not list the hotels that I most wantd to stay at, and Disney was coming out to be much more expensive than going all through Alaska, but I really wanted the TT Morning Madness and Character breakfast. So...I eventually came up with this plan: I booked our hotel (Tropicana), got the 5-for-3 Disneyland tickets and character breakfast (had to do the breakfast out of pocket since we ditched Costco) through the Disney website so that we could still get the Morning Madness and character call too, and then booked our airfare only through Alaska Airlines flying into LGB (you don't get the kids fly free this way, but they had an incredible Hot Deal ticket price that beat it out, so it's was worth it). All together, spiltting the package up between Disney and Alaska ended up coming out to be way cheaper than booking the entire package through Disney alone or Costco, and although it was comprable to going all through Alaska, this way we were able to get everything that we wanted, perks and all.

NLZLS, are you 100% sure you get MTTMM with just a ticket purchase? It hasn't been that way in the past, so I'm worried that there was a CM miscommunication.

oh my, I was about to freak out for a moment there...you frightened me for a sec! But, I just double checked our confirmation e-mail & the invoice and sure enough, it does list both TT Morning Madness & character call as being included. whew! It must be that it was still included because we still went the route of the "package" by purchasing the hotel, tickets and breakfast together (it was only the airfare was booked seperately through the airline to save $$$).
