My question is this....the DU price quote is better than DCL. I called DCL and they said I could give DU my reservation number DU would then call DCL to transfer it over and I would still keep my onboard credit.

Has anyone done this?

Please advise!!

Yes...and the best part about it is that you get to keep the $200 shipboard credit!!!! Have fun:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I am waiting on a response from John at DU. I called this morning and the lady who answered the phone was unable to help, she advised me to email John. Now I am impatiently waiting :)

Someone in our party did this February of this year (2004)

We re-booked while onboard our cruise last February for a February 2005 cruise. When we returned home, I transferred our reservation to DU without any problems. I also received an additional $100 rebate from DU. I was able to keep the $200 onboard credit. With the 10% discount for rebooking onboard, our fare through DCL was cheaper than DU's fare, so we kept it.

Good luck!

DCL must not have given me a good rate....Stephanie said that no TA could beat it but both AAA and DU are lower.

Ok - I just heard back from DU. They said that I can't get the lower price and keep the onboard credit.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF BOOKING ONBOARD????
DU beat the cat 9 price by $400 and the cat 6 by $600....AAA beat the cat 9 by $350.

Stephanie assured me that the TA's could not beat the DCL price. I guess I am getting pretty upset by all this.
I will probably end up transfering to DU, but I am upset that I saved the money for a deposit to take onboard...waited in line to make the reservation...etc...

How are all these other people getting the lower price and keeping the onboard credit??

Some agencies have group space for certain sail dates. The price is discounted and there is limited availability. Once their allotment is booked, then the rates will match Disney's for that sail date.

Disney does not allow group rates to be combined with any other offer, including onboard bookings.

As you've just learned, sometimes the savings exceed the onboard offer, including the SBC.

While it would be great to combine both offers, Disney's policies prevent this.

Warning: VENT!
I am so upset.....the whole rebooking onboard thing is for the birds. I made sure I didn't spend my deposit money so I could rebook and save $$ onboard.
The quote I was given is $400 more than a quote from DU and $300 more than AAA. I could even book a cat 6 for only $200 more than the original DCL quote. To me it seems there is NO point in booking onboard.
I can transfer to DU and keep the DCL price or my other option (I think) is to cancel with DCL and rebook. BUT then I have to wait for my deposit to be refunded before I can rebook with an agent.
I keep reading about all these people who transfer and get better deals and keep their onboard credit. I am wondering how they are doing it. I am upset with myself for waiting in line and stressing over booking onboard......
I just called DCL and asked how the rates could be so different and they said the TA's must be selling in group spaces....well I am all for saving but how can they do that?

UUUGGGHHHH!!!!!

I think what you need to realize is that there may not have been any point to you booking on board for this particular cruise. If you had booked during another week and DU or AAA didn't have their group rates for that week, it would have been a whole different story.

You have saved a ton of money because of these group rates. And look at it this way, your deposit is paid, and you saved even more than you thought.

I would love to be in your shoes.

*edited to add*

Plus, you probably have some early booking savings in there. If you had waited to book, I would bet that the price would have gone up.

Count that into even more money you have saved.

Yes - you are right....

I am transferring to AAA, they just called me back and beat DU's price and even got me a better cabin. Now I can only hope they get the deposit transferred over to AAA with no hassles.

hmmm....now I can add the romance package!!

Overall on price I saved $452......which is worth forgoing the shipboard credit......

do TA's not have group rates for all cruises? How do they choose that?

Well, Disney already has your deposit right? So the only thing that needs to be transferred is the reservation. Disney will just keep the deposit and it saves a step for AAA (I think).

Anyway as far as the TA's go, they only get group rates for certain weeks and I guess it's probably related to how much the ship is traditionally filled for those weeks.

That romance package sounds wonderful!

Congratulations!
