Anyone been to Thailand?

Next year we are planning on going to Thailand for xmas and New year, anyone been? don't know anything about the place.

Any tips or must see's?

We are hoping to go for 4 weeks taking in Bangkok, pattaya, Koh Samet, Phuket and Koh Samui.

I have not been there but there is currently some political unrest there, my stepdads ex wife is currently stuck in a hotel in Bangkok!

Have a long tail boat ride on the river

Visit the floating market at Damnuen Saduat

The Rose Garden with teak houses, baby elephants and traditional fokl crafts is very good.

Also you must go upriver to the old ruined capital of Ayyutea which was sacked by the Burmese a couple of hundred years ago.......maybe a ruin but it is magnificent

we went to bangkok & pattaya.we loved bangkok,and would go back tomorrow.we were only there for 3 nights,then we flew to vietnam,for 4 nights,then back to thailand,for 14 nights in pattaya.
in bangkok,we visited the golden palace,highly recommended,the floating market,another great trip,which was combined,with a trip,to the rose garden and we also did the trip,to the river kwai,which we thoroughly enjoyed.
we are looking to go back,to thailand next year,but there is no way,we are going back to pattaya.don't get me wrong,we enjoyed it,i just think,there are better places,to visit.you look in the brochures & places look stunning,pattaya,has got nothing,remotely stunning about it.
we may twin it,with cambodia next year.
you will have a great time,if you decide to go & i am looking forward to returning!
