I haven't been over to Rice's for a while, but I always thought that the "original" Tuesday morning market was the best. Holiday markets are good, but can be very crowded and even then not all the vendors are there. The weekends were always the most hit or miss.
I think you might just have motivated me to get my sleepy-head self out the door some Tuesday morning soon!
We go to Rice's a few times a season. They are only open Tuesdays & Saturdays, and some holidays. Tuesdays are far less crowded than Saturdays. Both days have equal amounts of vendors, I never noticed that one day had any less than the other. You have to go early though, they do start packing up to leave at noon.
I live very close to Rice's, and we go often. I personally prefer Saturdays because it tends to be less crowded, but there are more vendors on Tuesdays.
It's a small market- not the typical flea market that I was used to from NY. But I agree that Tuesday is a better day to go- more vendors imho. and yes go early if you go.
Lately it's also got several "crafty" people there- selling jewelry ect. I would guestimate about 100 booths? Maybe on Tuesday.
I go a lot. It's best to go on Tuesdays. Twice as many vendors. If it's a nice day, it can really get packed later in the morning. Go early. They are also open Saturday mornings.
If you have any questions about it, let me know.
OMG! I couldn't believe I saw this post! I grew up going to Rice's on Tues. mornings. Even in high school we would go and then show up to school a little late (around 8am). Now that I look back, that's considered cutting!
It's a fun place, with some neat stuff and a lot of junk too. You must get a pork roll sandwich from the place inside the big building (right across from the Amish breads).
Yes! ONLY Tuesday and Saturdays!
Tuesdays, get there early around 7:30am - 8:00am to avoid the crowds.
Saturdays it not such a big deal when you get there.
They are only open until 1:00pm.
I haven't been there for a few years, but my inlaws live very close to Rice's. When you are done there, stop over at Peddler's Village for some charming shops and nice places to eat. And then hit the small outlet mall there too!
