Hi There!

Wondering if anyone can help? We usually go to Disney every Feb. for school break and always enjoy our escape from the New England winter.

This year, I'm thinking we may want to try somewhere new and do a road trip instead. Can't afford a cruise or island this year so I'm thinking of different places.

DH and I have always wanted to visit Hilton Head Island and I was thinking that might be a possibility.

Wondering what there is to do there in February? Are the shops and restaurants open?

We are a family of five with kids who will be 13, 11 and 9.

We obviously won't plan on swimming, but would like to visit the beaches, Savannah, do some biking, he may like golf, etc..

Any advice/suggestions are very much appreciated!!

It will be cool in Feb so no swimming. Most places are open that time of year. The golf courses will be open of course. You can always go for walks of the beach but the water will be cold. Doing daytrips to Savannah, Charleston, or Beaufort are good as well.

February can be kind of iffy has far as the weather in SC. You may have some days that are very nice in the 50's or maybe even 60's or you could have freezing temps. :confused3

SCMinnie: Thanks so much!

I realize we won't be swimming at the beach, but we will be coming from New England so even 50's or 60's will be warm to us.

Just want to make sure there are other things to do that will be open.

Would you happen to know anything about the Marriott Grande Ocean resort? This is where I'm leaning towards because it has an indoor pool which the kids would like.

THanks again!

We always stay at the DVC resort in HHI so I don't know anything about the Marriott.

Be prepared if you are driving in HHI that they are very nature conscience so all the signage has to be a certain size a color. There is also a lot of trees between the businesses and the road especially on 278. It is not neon and hotel after hotel like Myrtle Beach. You have to really pay attention where you are going and really look hard for the business you are headed to.

::yes::

Hilton Head is the polar opposite of Myrtle Beach. It is quiet and refined (as opposed to the flashy neon of Myrtle Beach) but there are still some fun things to do. We always hit the outlet mall and if you stay somewhere with an indoor pool then the kids will at least get to swim. If you journey an hour back up the road to Charleston then there are plenty of historic sites to see like the City Market and nearby there is Patriots Point which has 5 ships that you can explore. Charleston also has mini-golf and go-kart places that your kids would probably enjoy. I don't remember there being any of those in Hilton Head but I haven't been there in about 3 years.
