I would really like to go for Christmas but was just wondering how bad the crowds will be in the parks? Anyone been this time of year before? We survived the Easter crowds at WDW. Also, do the hotels do anything special on Christmas Day?

Take a look at the Trip Report post pinned to the top of this board. You'll find Ware Bears, DlpSteve's trips reports from Christmas Day 2005. I am hoping to save up for Christmas 2007

Remembering the trip reports, reminded us what a wonderful time at our favourite season.
Let us know what you decide :)

HI
We were there the weekend before last Christmas and it was mad busy and really really cold. We love DLRP, especially at Halloween and in the summer, but we will not be going again during the Christmas season. However most people love it, and it is worth going once for the atmosphere and festive decorations and shows!

we to were there the weekend before Christmas and it was very busy and very cold.. the cold was made much worse as it was so hard to move due to the large number of people. I don't know if Christmas day will be the same though.. It may be a little quieter.

If I went again during Christmas I would go earlier in the season so we would still get all the Christmas stuff without the crowds..even if we should went a few days earlier and avoided the weekend it would of been so much better..

poohmadmum, we went for last Christmas, we've also been at WDW for Easter and would say Christmas Day at DLRP is much quieter than Easter Sunday at WDW!!! :)
Although it is manic in the build-up to Christmas, Christmas Eve is very quiet, we rode POC 3 times in a row and we were the only ones on the ride pirate:
Christmas Day and Boxing Day were brilliant, there were enough people around to give a wonderful atmosphere but not too many to create unbearable queues and crowds. It starts getting very busy again from the 27th onwards, we came home on the 28th and I would say it gets more manic each day in the run up to the New Year.
There are quite a few special meals on, especially on Christmas Eve but they also have special prices.;) In the end, we ate at the Lucky Nugget on Christmas Day, it was only their usual character buffet (at the usual price) but they had some lovely Christmas decorations up, crackers at the place sittings and special Christmas cocktails. The band played Christmas music too so it all seemed very special. :santa:
If you've read my trippie, you will see I say it was my best Christmas ever! :cloud9:

I got DH to have a look at your trippie and photos Elaine and even he had to concede that it looked wonderful, perhaps in a year or two when Liam's a little older and Christmas morning isn't such a big deal, at the moment he still believe's in Santa, mind you so does Jamie and he's 12, he asked me once about it when he was 10 and agreed that there was no way me and Rob could afford all those presents. :rolleyes1
I think he's decided he's better off playing along with me. :)

we went last year on 1st dec, park was very quiet on our first day which was a friday, were allowed to stay on POC and ride again without getting off! weekend was totally manic, people shipped in from EVERYWHERE sunday much worse than sta, although the park was just as amazing as i had hoped, the christmas theming was so beautiful and christmassy!
we are going agin this year at end of nov but we are going midweek!
not sure if i would want to be there xmas morning, maybe when kids are a bit older like jill said, have a great time whatever you decide.

I went Christmas Day 2004 (spent the week in Paris) We really enjoyed ourselves. It did not feel overly crowded to us.

We were there once just before Christmas and it was snowing in the morning! It really added to the charm. Dress warm and you'll be fine.

We stayed last Christmas for four days at the park.
The 24 and 25 december were quiet days but 26 and 27 were very crowded.
Thank god we had our v.i.p. fast passes so no waiting time for us.
If you really would like to spend the christmas days at the park do not wait to long with a reservation.

We went from the 20th - 23rd December...1995! Even though its a while ago (11 years my god), it was ABSOLUTELY FREEZING, i think it was colder in Paris than in Russia that week, but the atmosphere was nice and it was actually very quiet (perhaps only in comparison to the summer months as that is the only time we had been before). However, if you dress warmly then you'll be fine. Personally I wouldn't go at Xmas time again I don't think - January for me makes more sense as its cheaper and it makes that dreary month go by more quickly!!
