I am dying to make a trip but I just saw the refurbishment schedule and wonder if I should not wait till the summer. Is it true the Carousel and the Castle are both down? It sounds like fantasyland would be kind of less magical without them. Also, I read Fantasmic isn't happening now either. I LOVE fantasmic. Does anyone know when they place will be running more on full speed again?

We were there a couple of weeks ago for 5 days and we had a fine time. The tickets are now park hopper tickets, and there are attractions over at Disney's California Adventure and in Downtown Disney that will more than make up for a few missed rides in Disneyland. When they say Sleeping Beauty's Castle is down for refurbishment, they are talking about the diorama walk-through, not the castle itself - you can still get from Main Street to Fantasyland, and all the walkways are open except for the area where the refurbishment is happening right around the Carousel and Peter Pan.

The Carousel will be down for a while - they found significant decay in the structure and have to replace the entire top, plus structural elements. Splash Mountain probably won't reopen for more than a year - they are redoing the logs and the flume to change the seating. Bear Country is gone for the time being. But we still had an incredible time - adults and children.

Interestingly, from Dumbo the last time I was there 2001, I could see that the top of the carousel looked really like it needed paint. I did not know it was more serious than that.

Do you by any chance kow when Fantasmic will be running again. I would go to DL just to watch Fantasmic.

Fantasmic won't be back till the summer unfortunately...probably June.

I was there this past weekend. I have to agree, there was quite a bit closed, but I still had a marvelous time. Go to more of the shows (especially Blast at DCA). My boyfriend and I would go get a fastpass and then go see a show or go eat or something and then come back; everything ran smoothly and we didn't run out of anything to do :)

((thank God for parkhoppers!))
