We are leaving for the Smokies on Saturday and plan to do the Dixie Stampede. I am packing and wondering what to pack, clothes-wise for this dinner show? Is it hot in there, or is air-conditioned well? And is it dirty?, meaning should I put the family in jeans because we might be getting dirty, or are nicer clothes okay? Thanks!

It's not really the dress up kind of place. If ya'll are comfy in jeans go ahead but just be casual in whatever you choose. We had a great time. The show and the food are great.

From what I remember (about 2 years back) it is air conditioned. I would wear jeans or shorts, it's casual. But if you want to dress up I'm sure that's fine as well.

You can wear your normal, casual clothes. I'm sure it is climate controlled. My DM,and DS begged me to go, I reluctantly went, and I loved it! The food is really good, but they don't give you any silverware!

I've been there more times than I can count (kind of a family tradition, we go every time we vacation in the Smokies).
It is air conditioned and casual. They take a family picture of you going in and try to sell them to you during dinner. Ours usually turn out badly so I've only bought a couple over the years which is good since they are pretty expensive IMHO.

It is way casual---which is suprising for the cost of the place!! I'd wear jeans just because that's what most everyone else is wearing.
We just went a few weeks ago with DS's 6 & 3. I didn't notice if you have kids with you. They don't give you silverware---so your eating a whole chicken/soup/potato thing/apple fritter, etc. with your fingers. I saw several families whip out plasticware from their bags.
And my picky eaters ate NOTHING. Thankfully DS3 was free, but DS6's ticket was wasted (they don't have childrens menus and no ticket w/o food).
The show is fun, food is eatable for adults, for picky eaters---pack a PB&J.

Yep, casual (but 'nice' casual) if you want!

This is not a dinner dance, it is an equine rodeo show....
"Everbody.... it's time to S-T-A-M-P-E-D-E!!!!!!!" LOL!!!!!

The atmosphere inside is just fine. They use a specially designed dust free material on the arena, there is plenty of ventilation and some AC.

Do bring some good plastice flatware. And be prepared to eat most of your supper in the dimmed lights as they continue the show. It all goes on at once. (This is why kids who are not motivated by food and who are easily distractable may not eat a lot of their food... I was encouraging and helping my DS to eat.)

Send me a PM if you would like input on other things in the area!
