Hi all, just wondering if anyone from UK has visited the Aulani and what their thoughts were, and whether it is worth travelling that far just for the resort?
thanks

just for the resort, no.

But if you're doing Hawaii, it's well worth it (be advised it's expeeeeeensive)

If you're going to LA and Disneyland Resort, it might also be worth it doing the round trip to Aulani. (just like a disneyworld trip could be paired with a visit to key west ... same time on the road to KW as on the plane to HI lol)

but planning a trip halfway round the world just for the resort ... only if I was filthy rich and had nothing better to do.
Just like a Brit probably wouldn't fly to Japan to do 3 days at Tokyo DL without visiting Japan as well.

Thanks, that's what I thought. it is a long way, but even as an add on to a California trip it is another 4 or 5 hours flying time I think.

Corinna (Dolphin Girl) went earlier on this year and did a detailed trip report if you look in the UK TR board you should find it

As a DVC member, I would do it. Not if I was paying for the accommodation.

@chmurf I didn't realise you'd been to Aulani. When did you go? Every year we keep saying we will go and never seem to get round to it. Did you visit other places in Hawaii too?

I've not actually stayed there
December '11, cancelled flight on a connection at HNL, had 18 hours to kill so rented a car to have a nosey around the grounds. The resort had just opened, I was curious and hd nothing better to do ;)
I'd really like to stay there but price has put me off.

Maybe in a couple of years, there is an Anaheim project in the making, but I can only comment from that perpsective as there is not, in my opinion, enough there to justify flying that long and that far solely to stay there. Vero beach or Hilton head are better located for us if the resort is the main focus of the trip

But I wouldn't do a HI trip without staying a couple of nightd at Aulani, this much's for sure. I just wouldn't base a who!e trip on it.

I did time at wakiki beach, aulani then disney hawaii cruise

One of the best holidays :)

My wife just came by while I was looking at your pictures.

she sighed loudly, then she went back to the kitchen.

she came back two minutes later with a jar ... placed it on my desk ... on just said "you know what you gotta do, right ?"

message received ... time to start saving pennies ...

:p

Dh has always wanted to do hawaii and I knew disney were doing the cruise so saved for a few years as soon as decided lol

We loved hawaii :)

Honolulu very busy. Very weird one side of hotel was view above, the other was like oxford street in london lol

We did a tour of the island when there and dh did pearl harbour

We then went to aulani and just stayed around there

It is very quiet, not a lot going on at night. Just hawaiin singers and some nights star lit but we fell in love

Maui one of the islands on the cruise was beautiful

Dh did helicopter ride in kauai which he loved

I want to go back lol

Hopefully disney will do the cruise again in three years and hopefully we will be on it

Unfortunately dh I phone died on us when on cruise so lost loads of photos
