Hello. Just wondering if anyone has been to the Atlantis in the Bahamas. Booked 2 nights 3 days there for next week. Just looking for tips and advice.

Thanks

Hi,

I visited Atlantis on a Wonder cruise 2 years ago. It was very nice.....I did thing the merchandise in the gift shops was pretty expensive. Two of my co-workers have stayed there...they said that the water park was great.

Have a great trip :)

I've heard the waterpark is great. It looks beautiful. Have a great trip!

I stayed there many years ago when the renovations were just starting. It was incredible then, so must be even better now.

Just a heads up: things are incredibly expensive! A soda will cost as much as a beer; $3.00/can when we were there around 7 years ago. The restaurant food is also high; there are some less expensive places to get breakfast nearby. My experience is that food/drink are more expensive than at WDW.

Never stayed there, but walked around the grounds a little and saw The Dig when we were there on a cruise stop in November. Looks beautiful. I think you may find your stay too short!

DH and I stayed there two years ago for a business conference for DHs work.......there's NO WAY we could have ever afforded to stay there without the company paying for it---so we had a great time!! The casino is really fun, there's a nightclub inside the casino with fun/loud music playing all night, lots of cute little shops, the pools are fantastic, don't miss the lazy river that's on the opposite side of the huge slide (can't remember what it's called). One warning, they are very strict about making sure you have your wristband on in the pool area (making sure "outsiders" that aren't staying on-site aren't using their facilities). When you go to the pools, show your room key and they'll give you a wristband to wear........that drove me crazy so I put mine on my ankle!! Bring lots of money, and have a great time!!

We were there in 1996. Took the whole family of four. It was a great trip but very expensive. Food is the real kicker. It seemed like we could not get a meal for four for less than a hundred dollars. We did see a Subway and a Wendy's across the bridge back on the main Island so maybe they were less expensive. We had a great time and I really recommend touring the whole place while your there. It's huge and they have so many places to see and it seems like a surprise around every corner. They have the underwater tunnel to view sharks fron and shallow pools full of sting rays. The pools are great and they also have a lazy river around one of them. They were just building the big water slide when we were there and so we did not get to use it. Try the Conch Salad at one of the carts by the beach, it really good. Also thry the local beer its also really good, I can't remember the name of it offhand but I know I looked and could not get it locally. You will have a great time.

If you book the less expensive Comfort Suites across the street, it entitles you to use all the facilities at Atlantis.

I stayed there a few years ago and loved it! You could very easily spend your entire time there enjoying the grounds/activities/casino. It is VERY expensive though!

We stayed there in the summer of '02, and did a day visit on a cruise stop a year later. It was a lot of fun, and there is always something to do--it is a very busy and active place! The pools are great, there are a lot of designer shops, The Dig is very interesting, and all the sea life (stingray pools, etc...) is so neat! As long as you're prepared for the sticker shock when you see some of the prices as others have mentioned--dh, ds (then 6) and I paid over $100 for lunch at a pizza buffet (note to self: check prices *before* you go)! I loved looking at all the HUGE private yachts in the harbor--we saw Puff Daddy's, and I swear it was bigger than our house.

I'm not sure we'd ever go back for a land vacation there again, as we tend to like places that aren't as crowded, but we did have a really great time!

Have fun!

The local beer is Kalik (or something like that).
There is a small mall across the street from Atlantis near the bridge that has a couple of more reasonably priced restaurants. You might also look into the meal plan, it is expensive but a decent deal if you are planning to eat most meals there. I think the soda machines are $4.00 now. Kids meals (burger, fries, small drink) at the beach were $12 a few years ago. The breakfast buffet was $18. It attracts people like Michael Jordan and Oprah because they can afford it!

We checked it out on a cruise ship stop....The resort is very beautiful and it looks like there is a ton to do...but everything is very very expensive....I glanced at a menu posted outside of a restaurant and the prices were outrageous....I dont know how a family could afford to eat 3 meals, plus snacks there.
