Hm, I live about 45 miles west of Ft Worth...but as far as schools go, the only thing I know about the schools is how their marching bands are (former band nerd here)...

I do know that you shouldn't go to Fort Worth South Hills (I think that's the name)...we had a football game there once and it's one of those places where there is razor wire on the tops of fences...scary...

If I had any more info I would be glad to share it with you!

Have you posted on the regular community board? I am sure someone out there could help you. I wish I could but I can only help with tourism issues. I love going to Dallas/Ft. Worth.

I was able to go to Fort Worth during Hurricane Katrina. It was the BEST place. We lived there for about 6 months. Actually I took my kids there this past week.

The commissary is HUGE. The exchange is average. But during the holidays they have so many sales. (It is a Navy base but has airforce BX and PX. The base has medical, limited housing on base, base pool, bowling alley, movie theater, chapel and really it is a great place to live.

The home market there is amazing. It is easy to have a 3000 sq ft home for around 150,000. However, keep in mind that they have high property tax. My brothers house for example is 187,000 and he pays just under $4,000 a year in property taxes. But on the flip side there is no state taxes taken out of your check because they dont have any.

Personally, I would avoid Fort Worth Independent school district. I would look at Keller or Saginaw. Any other questions please pm me. My husband would love to get their for our last tour next year but his detailor said that so would the rest of the navy so it seems like a longshot. But a girl can dream.

Thank you soooo much for all the info!

That's great to hear! We were wondering if there was even a commissary there being that it's a Reserve base.

That's a big reason why we'd like to go there. We could get a lot more house for the money. We were there 4 years ago and we remembered seeing signs for new homes being built for next to nothing.

I've heard that from other people too. Keller is the main area that we've been looking at.

We're hoping to find out this week, possibly tomorrow, if we're going to get the orders or not. Right now we're just crossing our fingers. I'll let you know if I have anymore questions. Thanks again!!
